Went for an early supper @ 5:30 on a Saturday. Despite only having three tables seated in the dining room and one with a “reserved” sign on it, the waiter insisted on having us sit in a crappy table near the center. I pointed to another table that offered a better view of the place and didn’t have a “reserved” sign on it; but, again, he said the one I liked was reserved and he could only accommodate us at the crappy table I didn’t like.
Good thing he was so intransigent about it, because we left and went into town to eat at El Mesón on University (Rice Village). The food, ambiance, and service there were all spectacular! I highly recommend the drive before putting up with any of the pretentiousness at Fernando’s.
El Mesón has an Arroz Negro to die for, pretty good Queso Flameado, and an extensive wine list… and, of course, they didn’t give me any crap about reserved tables! I’ll definitely be back to eat at El Mesón, even if it is a bit of a drive from my house. Well worth it!

Based on their great reviews, we went to try it. It surpassed my expectations! Their steaks were fabulous, delicious and tender, some of the best I've ever had. Their plantain chips and dip were excellent, as was everything else that we ordered. The service was very good and the restaurant is really nice. So give it a shot! It is a great place for date night, to celebrate special occasions, or to just treat yourself. You will not be disappointed.
My husband found a hidden gem, this restaurant called Fernando's, Latin cuisine. The place is design for a romantic evening , soft music, dim lights, excellent customer service with attention to detail, our glasses were never empty, they constantly were checking and refilling, omg the food, was exquisite. I love this Spanier dish and i have not found a place here in Houston that makes it correctly. But they had it here at Fernando's. I had a delicious PAELLA that exceed my expectations & my husband had a 8oz filet mignon dish called EL HEFE. The cutest part was when the manager or owner maybe, turn on disco lights, the waiter then bring our desserts, and they start singing Happy Anniversary to us and all the other guest join the singing to. Was a beautiful celebration. Happy 20th Anniversary to us... and many more. If you wanting a fine dine, for a special occasion, this restaurant check all the 5 star boxes.

This is a place that never lets you down. It is always consistent. The food is excellent every time. It is a place where you can enjoy an excellent meal and have a great time with your party without being rush or pushed to buy more like some rest in the area that the waiters are always interrupting. Wife and I hate here last night for the first time ever, despite living in Sugar Land for 10 years. Everything we had was fantastic. Lamb chops and carne asada were perfect. Good drinks as well, and the two guys serving and visiting with folks were fun and welcoming. Definitely will be back.
They've been open 20 years, and hopefully Sugar Land and Fort Bend County continue to support this really good local business.

What an amazing place for special occasions! The atmosphere, the service, and the food are all exceptional! I can heartily recommend dining here as often as you can! I do not enjoy seafood, but the fish was incredibly delicious! The chocolate bread pudding was pit of this world!!!

It seems a little hidden where it could be overlooked so if you haven't noticed it or tried it I highly recommend it! It's like a hidden treasure in Sugarland between Williams Trace and Dairy Ashford on the east side of the 69 feeder!

If you're looking for an elegant setting, terrific food, and truly outstanding service, this is the place. We had the steak and fish dinners which were excellent, but it was the service that was over the top. We'll definitely be back.
We had a great experience on a Tuesday night. We were greeted by Fernando himself and then Juan did an excellent job the whole night with exemplary service. We started out with the Ceviche which was delicious. Then for dinner I had the El Jefe and the steak was grilled to perfection and was so very tender. My wife had Paella and she loved it. The Chocolate Bread Pudding was fantastic as well.
Parking: Plenty of parking out front and on the side of the restaurant.
