Umami Japanese Restaurant

Umami Sushi is our favorite sushi spot in Sugar Land! It’s never overly crowded, which makes for a relaxed dining experience, and the staff is always incredibly friendly. The restaurant is clean (including the restroom, which I always notice), and the food is consistently great. The Twilight Roll is our go-to and absolutely delicious. Highly recommend!

Fresh sushi! A little sugar land gem!

Delicious and great service. I came here for the first time during happy hour. I recommend the yuzu kamikaze with a salt rim. The mussels are soft and flavorful. I also had the half umami and half cali roll. I like that they have half options. Happy hour is Monday-saturday 11am- 3pm and 4:30-6pm. Sundays are 3:30-6pm.

I had a fantastic experience here! The sushi was incredibly fresh and also the cheese rangoon was the best. My personal favorite was the Yummy Yummy roll. You get great value for your money, and the atmosphere is lovely. Highly recommend!

Everything was excellent, including the service. Sushi was delicious! The atmosphere was pleasant and, most importantly, clean. The bathrooms were clean. We will be back for sure. My new favorite spot for sushi.

I usually don’t leave reviews but everything was so so good. We were worried that there would be a long wait for a table because of how popular this place is but it was pretty short.

We weren’t sure what we wanted to get at first because this was our first time there, but our server Ariana gave us some amazing recommendations so I got the Angry Dragon and Double Truffle Rolls on her advice, and my wife got the aptly named Pink Lady roll and they were all excellent! Its like she read our minds 🤣🤣

The food came very quick and Ariana was such a sweetheart and checked up on us multiple times to make sure we were all set. Our waters were never empty!! Really great service here!!!

Not only was the food great, but the staff are super friendly and attentive. there was this one busser in particular i think his name as alex and he was a real charmer. All my gay friends were practically in love with him.

From the crispy rice to the panna cotta, this was the most amazing meal I’ve ever had in my life. Thank you, Chef Sam, for curating such an incredible selection of Japanese fish. A huge thank you as well to the staff for the outstanding service, and to the bar for the delicious cocktail. I absolutely loved everything. I can’t wait to come back

Definitely one of our favorites in Houston. Consistent and reliable in quality and freshness of the fish. The quality and style of the sushi is comparable to uchiko but at a much better price. We especially love the Ikura here. We are not as big a fans of the rolls because we aren’t big fans of elaborate rolls in general. Regardless we love this place and come here often. We are rooting for this local hidden gem!

The food was mid. The Nigiri did taste weirdly fishy so it didn't feel very fresh, unfortunately. I am a huge sushi diva though so take it with a grain of salt. I've had considerably better sushi at tons of places however, the staff were absolutely incredible and so kind and responsive though so I love them and highly recommend visiting if you're not a sushi diva.
