Came here with family of 4 for dinner, its clearly popular among the locals. Its off the beaten path in a rough part of Alpine. Restaraunt is run down not very clean, condensation dripping from the ceiling above our table. Ripped seats in the booth. Service was rough, not friendly never once attempted to clear the smaller tables making it tough to even find room for everything. Some food was good some was bland as can be. Then turns out they only take cash, so it's nice they ask you to give them your license but then get in the car to drive away to try and find atm This is a rare time I'd recommend a chain restaurant over independently owned. Move on, I think others just think they are authentic due to it being run down and in the ghetto. Sometimes that just really means it's not good.

We had a large group, and this place is small, so we actually did a take out order. It was still hot! We all ordered something different, and every dish was flavorful. Only draw back..bring cash, they don't take cards.

The restaurant was highly recommended. A hidden gem in a neighborhood off the beaten path--local place, well worth the visit. The pace is small and cozy, clean, including the bathrooms. The food is from scratch, fresh and delicious. Large portions on the food and the menu has a good variety of items. They don't scrimp on the ingredients in the tacos either. Not greasy. Some of the best TexMex I have had. All the staff were nice and friendly. A definite go. Cash only. They had no problem separating the checks either.

Would highly recommend. Food is excellent and fast friendly service. It is in a residential area, but dont let apperances stop you. It is great! It is cash only.

Beef enchiladas were awesome and tacos were tasty. Great find as we traveled through Alpine. Don’t let the location scare you!

We arrived in Alpine late afternoon, hungry for Mexican and we made our way here. Glad we did! The chips were excellent, the service was friendly, and our meals arrived quickly. The food was good, the portions were huge, and the prices were low. Note that they are cash only.

They're very popular because the food is inexpensive and high quality. They are cash only, so no checks or cards.

We had an excellent home-style Tex-mex dinner here (both of us got green chicken enchiladas, cleaned our plates! Seems to be a favorite of the locals and that's always a good sign. Fast service, good food. If you want "fancy", don't come here. If you want some good Tex-mex, get here when they open! Chips are not warmed but the salsa is good, by the way.

We went for lunch and the staff sat us quickly. Our food did not take long and it was very delicious!

Always busy from the moment the doors open, but always great food. Small location in residential area, but a favorite of the locals. Don't miss it if your in the area.

We stopped by Alpine TX on the way home to Austin from Big Bend. We stopped at another restaurant on the TripAdvisor list in that neighborhood but passed since it looked sketchy. Right around the corner we discovered La Casita, a magnet for locals and travelers like us. It was packed, but service was good and food was excellent. Atmosphere was very homespun, local and authentic. Reminded me of Austin East side Tex-Mex restaurants from he past; great family owned and operated businesses with great food and low key attitude. We’ll be back soon.

If you're not a local, DONT VISIT. If you like authentic Mexican American..TexMex,DONT VISIT. The meals are heated frozen meals. Even the tea was tasteless. Our waitress was very rude and not people oriented from the moment we walked in. Never smiled. Never asked us how everything was. BUT she did ask the table behind us and in front of us. She didn't look at us AT ALL. Horrible demeanor. Even when we checked out..not one word. No eye contact. I even said THANK YOU and she just looked away. HORRIBLE.

Always go here when in Alpine! Love their food. Just like the old days. Everything fresh and tasty! Best TexMex in Alpine or the whole area !!

I’d read so much about this restaurant and was eager to try it after arriving in Alpine. Hubby opted to stay in the hotel after we’d had a big lunch, so I set off to dine alone. Upon arrival, the restaurant was at capacity, so I waited outside with another couple. They kindly invited me to join them, so I wouldn’t have to wait longer. We had great food, great service, great company! Bonus: they had spent the day prior in BBNP, which is our ultimate destination in a few days. Very helpful with firsthand experience of BBNP. I had the fajita quesadilla and took a combo burrito back for my hubs. Quesadilla was huge, came with guacamole, which was fab. Chips and salsa were very good too. Bring cash!! Inexpensive eats, but they don’t take credit cards.

This is a small cozy casa. The food is great and served quickly. It gets busy but, the waitstaff was really moving when we went. We ordered some guacamole. It was made more like a dip so if you love classic guacamole, don’t order it here. The rest of what 6 of us ordered was all great! Please know it is CASH ONLY.
