5 years visiting here in the summer. Lovely place and people. Dinner is outstanding.

Unfortunately, this was the worst “fine dining” experience I’ve ever had — from the food and service to the overall atmosphere.

To start, we were seated indoors in a cramped area right next to a loud party of 12 who had clearly been drinking. The noise level made it impossible to have a conversation, and we weren’t the only ones who felt this way — two couples, including us, ended up moving outside just to escape the chaos. We ended up sharing a table with another couple and spent the rest of the evening dealing with the cold and mosquitoes. Robert (I believe the owner) even admitted he knew better than to book such a large table indoors. He was right — it completely disrupted the experience for everyone else. We should have just left.

As for the food — thoroughly underwhelming.
The couple we sat with mentioned that the previous chef was outstanding — “lick your plate” good. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case with the current one. The tuna appetizer tasted like it came straight from a grocery store freezer and was served nearly frozen on a tortilla chip — nothing fresh or thoughtfully prepared. The lamb lollipop was small and unremarkable, lacking the richness or creativity you expect in a fine dining setting. Even the dessert, which should’ve been a highlight, fell flat — the ice cream was icy and reminiscent of low-end supermarket brands. Ben & Jerry’s would’ve been a step up.

On top of that, the entire meal took 2.5 hours for just six courses, which would’ve been tolerable if the service or food had made up for it — but neither did. And the way Robert slid/tossed the check across the table at the end — casually and dismissively — was surprisingly unprofessional. Was the highlight/cherry on top of how we felt unappreciated as guest.

I suspect the glowing reviews are from a time when the previous chef was in charge, or perhaps from diners unfamiliar with what true fine dining should feel like. The setting is quite beautiful, but Sadly, this place did not live up to any standard I’ve experienced before, and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone

Outstanding. If you are in the area this is an excellent choice for an overnight stay. About 15 minutes SW of Coleman, TX. On the property we did not hear any outside noise (very tranquil). The rooms are minimalist but beautifully done. No TVs but good Internet service. If I could sum up the stay it would be peaceful.

The food was excellent. We had dinner and breakfast. They have guest chefs come in on the weekends to prepare a menu and cook. The food was wonderful. You dine in the main house that is rustic but perfectly done to create an ideal atmosphere.

Robert, the owner, is reserved and an excellent host. If you are looking for a peaceful weekend getaway from the city, I would strongly recommend Rancho Loma.

I'm so glad I came across this place. My favorite stop on my Cross County Texas road trip. The feel of the place is so modern, while also being very welcoming. The pictures on the website do not do Rancho Loma justice. I plan on traveling back to Texas from Maryland just an an excuse to stay here again.

Unprofessional owner will get in your face when you call them out after they told you they were looking in your room when you left. NO LOCKS on DOORS. Stay away, they will rob you after checkin when they complain about dogs they allow you to bring and you request a refund to leave.

This place is quaint, out of the way, and absolutely beautiful. It's a small getaway where you can absolutely unplug. No phones, no tvs. The food is fantastic! And, they have a dog on premises who is adorable.! Come for a stay. You won't regret it!Rooms: Small and quiet.

We did not stay on the property. We were there for the 5 course dinner. Wish I could give it more stars! What a wonderful evening. Every course was beautifully plated and creative. The staff was friendly and warm. It felt like we were having dinner with old friends. Don't miss admiring the beautiful photography throughout the restaurant. The photographer has a gifted eye in capturing animals with unique framing.
