Texas Bay Seafood and Steak In Taylor, TX

My go to place for fresh seafood away from the coastal waters. The food is always consistent and very good. I suggest if you are in the area, stop in a give this place a try, you will not be disappointed....

We have been driving through Taylor for years and never knew this place existed as it sits back a bit off the main road. Came around 8pm on a Saturday and it was pretty dead, they were clearly doing closing duties and cleaning so was skeptical on what we were going to get. Greeted right away (points)!!! We ordered 2 cups of seafood gumbo as appetizers. Not only did it come out piping hot, it was chuck full of a delightful mix of seafood, the shrimp were so tender and the roux was perfect with seasoning and thickness. Probably one of the best I have had. We ordered grilled salmon, grilled shrimp and scallops and a chicken fried steak. All fresh and yummy. Salads were chilled and fresh with homemade ranch dressing (more points)! All the seafood was fresh and seasoned and cooked just right. The plates came with seasoned vegetables and they were also very very good! Cannot complain about a single things except for the fact we didn’t find it sooner.
We were hesitant since our last couple Taylor restaurant experiences have been pretty bad, especially the 2nd Street Station in Taylor where we literally had roaches (plural) crawling up the walls and over our feet, no exaggeration and were told “they’re water bugs not roaches” ?????? Difference? Thank you Texas Bay for giving us a place to eat when we drive through again!

I love the fish and baked potatoe.Its great.Its clean.Friendly staff.The tarter sauce is horrible.They need a new recipe.But the fish is great.And they're baked potatoes is amazing to.I do wish they would bring back 3 fish fillets and baked potatoes lunch special.

We had a large group they knew was coming a few days in advance. It was the worst experience I've ever had. I ordered the pad thai. It was gross but what was worse than the food was they were not prepared for the group. The wait staff was 1 person mainly for over 50 people. After awhile we asked for pitchers of water and tea so we could serve ourselves otherwise we wouldn't have gotten any drink refills. It was a good 20mins to get my first water after ordering it twice. It would take me forever to explain how the food situation happened. Let's just say it ended up a nightmare. One of our group went and talked to the manager and she was rude and called him a liar. As we do big groups in different cities and states as we travel for our jobs we understand large groups slow service down but not like it was at this place. We will NEVER go back even as a small group and will not recommend this restaurant in the future.
We all did still tip the servers very well even with such horrible service.

Food is phenomenal. I ordered rare ribeye with shrimp and fried gator appetizer. We were a party of 40-45 people that arranged a week ahead, but they had 2 poor waitresses waiting on all of us. It took at least half an hour to order, let alone get drinks.

Don't know if the issue was due to call ins or what, but those poor ladies were run ragged and it took over an hour to get everyone's food and things were terribly mixed up. Thankfully we have patient people that have worked food service before to help distribute food and we had to get drinks ourselves multiple times.

Definitely eat here, just don't come as a big group regardless of how far ahead you schedule.
