Update 11-27-24
Decided to dine in for dinner.
Atmosphere is ok, poor choice of music for the theme.
Combo #1 the grilled shrimp were overcooked, grilled fish was good. The mixed veggies were soggy, watery and not flavorful.
Fried Shrimp were overcooked as well, very chewy, fries were cold.
Never saw the Waitress again after bringing our food. I had to ask the cashier for a box.
Got a bottled Coors Light from the "bar" and it was room temp, not ice cold as it is supposed to be.
Just really disappointed and will not return.
The food is ok....
The boiled shrimp were red and had red liquid/oily stuff all over them. They did have a good flavor. I just didn't care for my fingers to be red and I had to use Dawn dishwashing liquid to get it off and fingernails stained. Fried catfish was on point w/a cornmeal batter as it should. Fried shrimp were good.
French fries soggy.
Boudin ball was ok, had an after taste I can't explain and do not care for it.
Potato salad was ok, chunky and sweet.
Mom's Banana Pudding is something to be desired.
This restaurant does have a drive thru if that interests you.

I used to visit 4 times a week but since I had a marital change I don't go as often so I ordered to go meals last night the burger was so salty I couldn't eat it and the onion rings were a big blob on my plate all the crust had fallen off and they were soggy my husband's grilled shrimp salad was good but who can't throw some lettuce on a plate it was a waste of.$35

Ordered over the phone and the girl was irritated with me. She stated since it was over $50 and I was paying with card I had to pay over the phone because “if I don’t show up it comes out of their pay checks”. I picked up my order and it was incorrect. I got 2 large gumbos and received 1 large and 1 medium. I also ordered a fried fish po boy and when I opened it it was just fish on bread. No sauce, tomatoes, or lettuce like it states on the menu it comes with. It is too high priced.

It had been years since I’d eaten a fried shrimp poboy, and my sister suggested I try theirs. I was not disappointed. It was perfectly cooked, and tasted great! It was my first visit to Bayou Cafe, but I can assure you it won’t be my last. Thank you very much.

I've been in Cajun country for a couple of weeks and was pretty disappointed until I tried Bayou Cafe in Vidor. I had the seafood gumbo as a starter and for the main event I tried the shrimp and grits. The gumbo was very tasty, nice color on the roux and nice deep flavors. The shrimp and grits were exactly what I was hoping for, nice big shrimp and creamy grits that were to die for. They used gouda on the grits and were perfectly cooked and so well seasoned. I dashed a little Tabasco in there but only because I like spicy. Really didn't need anything but the Tabasco added a little zip. Bless this place, they restored my faith in Cajun Cooking. As to that they had some great blues playing. I'll be back for sure
Parking: Plenty of spots right in front.

The food is usually good but tonight the crawfish had a funny taste and were oily. Told the young lady behind the counter it was for dine in 3 times but was brought crawfish in plastic bags. Hope the customer service gets better.

I highly recommend this café. It has the best burgers and banana pudding around. We love the onion rings and Boudin too. Nice environment with plenty to see on the walls. Always fast and friendly service too. Cravin'
