If you want good down home cooking, go to McDowell 's Cafe. The food was hot, good, fresh & nice atmosphere. My favorite is chicken tails, but will be going back for other foods as well! I find this business 5 stars!

I ordered a hamburger and it was outstanding. It was around 1/2 pound with a flame grilled flavor. This reminded me of a home made burger because it was generous with the toppings. The pic doesn't do it justice. It's bigger than it looks. I recommend calling before visiting. This place is can be closed at random times. The menu is unorganized but that doesn't bother me when the food is very good.This is a local gem!

Delightful, tasty fresh food. We enjoyed the Brisket Quesadillas and Chicken Quesadillas with some fresh made salsa - with a good mild spice. (so good we purchased some from the Market). My niece had the pimento cheese - sooo wonderful! Topped off our meal with cobbler and ice cream- we tried both the peach and blackberry. Had a buttery crunchy crust that accentuated the blend of fruit and crust. Our sweet waitress was so accommodating and added to the ambiance of a beautiful meal. Stopped on our way to Belton from DFW on a Friday at lunch and they had a 20 minute wait- we were waiting on family also coming so we made a reservation and shopped their stores while waiting. Beautiful location! A definite MUST Enjoy if you are in the area.

Rebeccah, our server was so incredibly kind and she showed that she very much cared about making sure that my son’s & my experience here was nothing short of warm & welcoming. (my apologies if I spelled your name wrong). She and the entire staff are very respectful (“yes sir, no sir”) The atmosphere here is quite romantic, but you can dress casual if you prefer. It’s very clean and well maintained. All of the food is made entirely from scratch, and the presentation as well as the flavor of everything was perfect. My son had the chicken fried chicken, and I had the Brazos Valley Salad & chicken fried steak. Both meals were spot on on every level. The area that this restaurant is located in is actually an entire village with a BBQ restaurant, general store, cheese shop, farm, and more. This was our first time here, and we did not expect to see all of what is here. The architecture here is quite beautiful and definitely worth a stop for a few hours to eat & shop (especially for you ladies out there). You’ll love it here. So glad we got lunch here today. We’ll be back with my wife. I would give this place 10 stars if I could! Highly recommend!!

When in Waco go here to eat ! Despite being located temporarily in a different building because the cafe building burned down a few months ago the food remains fantastic as well as the pleasant and efficient service . The new cafe building is under construction !

Wow!!! What an amazing place to eat! Pimento appetizer was great!! Brisket enchiladas were Absolutely the BEST I have ever eaten!!! Cobbler was delicious!!! The atmosphere was very relaxing and the service was excellent.. drinks were never empty! Everybody in our party really enjoyed their food!! If you are in this area.. THIS is the place to eat, you will not be disappointed!

Great food. Brazos Salad is so good. Brisket tacos asada is delicious. The chicken dumpling pie so tasty and crust so flakey All the food I had is so delicious. Dossie was our server several times and she was so nice and sweet. She was very efficient and helpful. The other servers were so nice as well. Never had to wait very long for our food. All was good. Don’t miss this place while in Waco. Love it. Oh. The bread is scrumptious.

Closed unfortunately due to fire. Trip advisor should have been able to help announce this sad closure. We miss the beautiful people and local flavor
