friendly service and delicious food today!
i had the brisket skillet (pictured) and my husband had the shrimp and grits which he really enjoyed. wait time can tend to be longish but so worth it - it’s likely because people know this is one of the best places in waco to eat! we will be back again!

Customer service was great but the food was just okay. We really enjoyed the biscuits and variety of fruit spreads they provided, however the main dishes that we chose were not impressive.

Leah and her team at Olive Branch are AAMAZING! We used them to cater my daughter's wedding this past weekend and I could not have asked for better service and food! And the food.... oh my, SO GOOD! Everyone loved it and we're just so pleased! Leah is the BEST, from first correspondence email to the thank you the day after - always responsive and so accommodating with everything we needed.

Went to olive branch for the first time on a rainy day which I was excited about.
Come to find out it was very disappointing.
the place was cold and the chairs were super uncomfortable not cozy at all. Took the servers about 15 minutes to acknowledge us and once he finally got to our table he seemed lost didn’t receive a smile or any warm welcome.

The 1 star is for my meal which was actually alright .
My husband order the chicken fried steak which was totally unacceptable.
tasted like hot sauce (which I asked about and was told it was marinated in hot sauce which was not on the menu description)and the Portion was so small it could be considered a child’s meal , the mashed potatoes that were thrown on the side were very watery and the green beans just weren’t cooked properly. once I brought it to the servers attention he basically ignored it and walked away. I had to ask for a second time if it was possible to order something different and they refused , said “all we can do is offer a dessert for free” . Very disappointed that they didn’t care enough to offer a different plate.

To wrap it up uncomfortable, poor hospitality , bad timing and menu has potential but definitely needs lot of work . Would not recommend if you are wanting to enjoy yourself and a good meal.

We visited The Olive Branch for breakfast this morning and really enjoyed our meal. I had the breakfast croissant, my kids had pancakes, and my husband had biscuits with eggs and bacon—everything was delicious! The food definitely makes this spot worth visiting. The only downside was that our server was a bit slow, and the coffee could use some improvement. Seating was easy since it wasn’t very busy, and the bathrooms were clean. Just a heads-up: it might not be the best spot for large groups since there aren’t many big tables. Overall, I’d still recommend it for a tasty breakfast!

We were four and they had 2 tables available, but they said they cannot separate those tables to give us service. So ridiculous, they were not anyone behind us. It was more a racist thing than a logic decision.

Let me preface with saying that I’ve been in the industry for over 12+ years and hardly ever write reviews.
Jacob, our server from the get go was warm and inviting. His smile was gracious and his service was excellent, they had a true nature to hospitality and it came easy to them.

The reason this review gets 3 stars is because I could tell that the kitchen had a lot of orders to push out and could easily tell they were busy for a Sunday brunch service. All of which are normal for someone who’s worked their fair share of brunches, however this doesn’t really apply to striving for an excellent service, it’s Sunday during football season, you better bring your A game just like everyone else does, the kitchen did not.

Our fruit bowl was a sad excuse to get rid of fruit before going bad before looking to change up the fruit since watermelon is coming out of season and the pieces we got were already mushy and unappetizing. The dollop of whip cream on every plate is an uncomfortable touch since the design of the menu seems to be comfortable enough that a fresh fruit salad would gladly brighten up the menu.

Brisket burrito (8 out of 10)
Order it. Our lovely host in the Airbnb recommended it to us and we enjoyed every bit especially drenching it in the salsa (which kinda tasted like herdez) but I’m cool with it since nothing else is probably made in house. The brisket a tad dry but again there isn’t a 250 gallon smoker out back or anything.

The Brioche French toast, again the French toast tasted great once I scraped off all the whip cream and picked around the way too far gone strawberries to only find inedible wasted 2 pieces of brioche undercooked by the rush of the kitchen and eggs to follow (ordered over medium) came out with cooked egg white on the outer rim but raw all throughout the inside.

Made Jacob aware of the situation and he gladly rang in a side of scrambled eggs to replace rapidly and made the manager aware. Unfortunately the eggs came out after we had already paid the bill and were getting up to leave.

The kicker to finish off this long venting session is to creative some creative feedback for the owner. Your manager came to the table, (not delivering the new eggs) but only to ask if we wanted more water as we’re getting up from the table to leave, not to check if the service was up to par (Jacob would’ve been a better manager), or to apologize for the undercooked meal or to offer any solutions for the service provided by his team. Homie was definitely feeing safe behind the service station and was ready to help move tables for larger tables.

Not that I was expecting to have anything taken off our bill for plates we barely touched or ate at all but the gesture would’ve taken the true nature of hospitality and created that foundation for The Olive branch (symbol of peace and unity) or something like that. But unfortunately this may be one of the kitchen nightmares situations we live to see Ramsey gobble up.

Anywho, 3/5 stars. Potential is here to be something great, the servers and support staff should all get a recognition for keeping the place clean and friendly, but Bradley Uppercrust III needs some polishing.

We first met The Olive Branch at an on-campus event, and the food was so good we just had to track it down. Our second date, however, was a bit of a marathon. Our weekend lunch party of three was seated right away, which was a great start! But then, we played the waiting game. It took 15 minutes to get menus, and then almost 50 more for our plates to finally make an appearance. Thankfully, the sandwiches and fries were hot and delicious. The salad, on the other hand, was an unremarkable third wheel.

Disappointing Experience for Gluten-Sensitive Diners

My family and I, including a gluten-sensitive member, visited The Olive Branch after seeing positive reviews about their gluten-free options. However, our experience fell short of expectations. Despite the server offering gluten-free pasta or buns, there was no separate menu or nutritional information available (after alerting the server of a gluten sensitivity). Our gluten-sensitive family member ordered brussels sprouts and a steak with fries (as it felt the safest) . While the portions were generous and nicely presented, the steak was unevenly cooked (1/4 was medium rare and tge rest was well done - grey and dry), and, unfortunately, the gluten-sensitive person showed signs of gluten consumption, suggesting that the meal wasn't gluten-free.

Although the other dishes, a burger and country-fried steak, were cooked correctly, the overall experience left us concerned for diners with allergies or sensitivities. It appears the waitstaff may require more training on handling dietary restrictions. Our total for three adults came to around $75 before the tip. We hope the restaurant considers improving its gluten-free options and staff training to accommodate all guests.
