First time stopping in on our way home. Just wanted to check out the atmosphere in case we wanted to come back when we are in the area. We will definitely not be back due to the goofy white guy with a backwards cap bar owner that totally ruined our experience. The restaurant was completely empty. We were the only customers to place an order and this unprofessional "owner" gives our order to some young kids without even telling the restaurant owners. So we waited for over 40 minutes before we finally asked to see what was taking so long. Mind you no customer service from the owner whatsoever no apologies or anything. Definitely would not give him my business ever again.

They advertised they were having the band OUTLOUD, from 7-10 pm and there was a cover charge. They charged us $20 to get in, we then realized that 90% of the place is reserved which we thought was weird, but we finally found a table on the outside and sat down. On the big screen was a rolling video of CR MEYERS construction, and a man drawing tickets for the employees Christmas party gifts. We literally felt like we crashed someone’s Christmas party so I went back to where we paid and they said it’s their Christmas party, but it’s almost over (it was after 7pm & it wasn’t even close to being over). We asked to speak to a manager come to find out the company paid for the band, and then they had a full-blown cornhole tournament going on…It was the weirdest most uncomfortable experience ever. Another couple came and sat with us (since there were a few tables available) and were also shocked that the Backyard would open to the public for a company Christmas party. It was disrespectful to the company who paid for the band and the space and to the customers who came in and crashed their party.

I didn't eat there I was actually killing time waiting for my bus, but the atmosphere is awesome ? fun for all ages!!! Big screens indoors and outdoors, kids playing outside, people with pets were welcome too. I'm planning a visit work the family because they're something for everyone!!!

Extremely disappointing. Last month was here and had some of the best bbq of my life, just went back and had the worst bbq of my life (found a feather in the mac'ncheese). Had to wait 30min for our order to be taken, and there was no line, the lady wasnt there and no one stepped up (lots of staff just standing around). They changed the menu and removed the best items (we liked the black and gold, mac'ncheese with brisket but they couldn't give me that). Paid almost $30 after tip for a shabby amount of crappy brisket and mac'ncheese. There was a feather in the mac'ncheese. The "chopped brisket" tasted like it was leftovers from the week before. Everything was cold, dry, and stale. I will never go back after this bad experience, from a restaurant that used to be amazing. Beyond disappointing.

We were in town during the Silobration festival but didn't want festival food. We were looking for a place for a good lunch where we could sit down inside with a/c. The food was all incredibly delicious, and the service was super friendly. This place is a hidden gem!

The Backyard in Waco is a Southern gem! The BBQ melts in your mouth, and the sides are pure comfort. The staff is friendlier than a cat in the sun. If you want good vibes and even better food, this is the place to be! 10/10, for Brett y’all!
