Tru Jamaica Restaurant at The Hippodrome

Came to just grab a quick beef patty. Learned how to eat it like a local. Left knowing we’ll be back to try more. The Owner is amazing. The food is fresh and exactly what we were hoping for as far as the Jamaican flavor. The service is spot on. We live an hour and a half away and will definitely make a roadtrip just to hit up this place. We love food spots that put love into what they do. Come show them some love as they recover from a fire . Currently working from their food truck so order big and bring it to a picnic or your family. You’re gonna get hooked.
*Ordered the beef and curry chicken patties. Scored a hibiscus and ginger fresh juice and a piping hot coco bread. Loved all 4

They have amazing Jamaican food with fresh ingredients from a garden and the staff were awesome. We got jerk chicken breast which is not common but it was so delicious and taste like my auntie’s cooking 😄. The team was really kind and helpful and even gave us free drinks!

Their building had a fire, they are working on rebuilding the place. The food is great! You may need to take it to go but it would nice to show support for a local business.

They didn’t include two items that I ordered and paid for. Good thing I always check what’s inside in advance. The rice isn’t tasty, but everything else is good

Been to a few restaurants since I moved here, and this is probably the best of all of them. The sauce on that jerk chicken is so flavorful, and the rice that comes with it is perfect.

If you're passing through Waco and you want to try something different, or if you've lived here a while but want to get out of the normal restaurant circuit, I can't recommend this place enough.

Food is excellent! Drinks and desserts are great!
Currently they are serving from their food truck. The restaurant will reopen soon! We shall return.

Delicious and authentic Jamaican food! My dad is from Jamaica so I have high expectations when it comes to Jamaican food and Tru Jamaica did not disappoint. The Oxtails, plantains, and rice and peas were delicious. If you’re looking for authentic Jamaican food or just a great meal this is your spot.

We stopped here for lunch on our roadtrip and the food and service was outstanding. I recommend the plantains, rice and peas, rasta pasta, and to try the desserts! The service was very good as well. We will definitely be back!
