Love, Love, Love the fish fry plate! This is one of those hidden gems that when you find it you don't really want to tell anyone about just keep it a special secret for your own enjoyment....but you also can't help but tell everyone how delicious it was!! It's our favorite fish fry place ever.

I was driving through the area and called this restaurant to place an order. The lady answered, saying hold please and 22mins went by without her getting back on the line. How unprofessional- there is no excuse to wasting 22mins of your customers time. It would have be longer but I gave up.

Food was semi warm when we got and don't think it was super fresh. Tasted more like it had been in a warmer, them put in a to go box which was cold by the time we ate. Seasoning wise, it was good. My plate was catfish, fries and coleslaw. Hubs got catfish, beans and potatoe salad. Catfish was good but it's more like catfish nuggets. Regular plate wasn't very filling. Fries would have been good is they would have been hot. They appeared to be cut in house and the not the frozen kind. Coleslaw was good too which can be very hit/miss at most places. And some places like to give spoiled coleslaw so I always hesitate ordering coleslaw but hootens coleslaw tasty good. Potato salad wasn't good. Lots and lots of mustard. I prefer a mayo and mustard mix in potato salad. This was very heavy on mustard. I didn't try the beans but hubs said they were good. Overall good but the freshness plus the skimpy plate of catfish is why I give only 3 stars. The Cove has MASSIVE catfish fillets that are fresher for about same price.

It’s a filthy restaurant for starters. The meat is some of the worst BBQ with SOO much fat that none of us could chew though it. Super sad as we love this community…. But we won’t be back here.

My guests and I ordered 2 Chopped Brisket platters with sides, and 1 Turkey Sandwhich. There was very little smokiness with the Brisket. Without the sauce the Brisket wasn't much to speak of. The portions for the Brisket was good. The side dishes were very flavorful. The Turkey Sandwhich was reported as well cooked. Plenty of meat on it. Nice, older and country setting. Once the meal was served there was no staff to patron communication.

The BAR-B-Q is very good the only problem I have is the potato salad, I love potato salad but this time it had way too much mustard but I fixed it I just added a little mayo.But all "n" all Hooten Hollern has very good BAR-B-Q I highly recommend trying them out.

Best BBQ near Lake Whitney. Even the dessert is huge and delicious. Leftovers for days! Try the catfish. Mmmm.
