Let me start by saying although it had been a few years since I had been to the Windom Feed Sack, it was once one of my favorite places to eat catfish and Shrimp. My girlfriend and I had dinner there Saturday night. It was her first time to eat there and after I hyped it up to her the entire drive there, we were both really disappointed. Upon arriving at 7PM, I was shocked how empty the restaurant was. Nearly every table in the restaurant was available with the exception of a few. The Windom Feed Sack I once knew had lines out the door with people waiting for a table to become available. Not this time. I was shocked again to hear the lady at the register tell me it was now $52 for 2 adults. It's a good thing they got my money before we ate the food. The fish on the buffet wasn't hot. The hush puppies, fries, and okra weren't hot either. The frog legs were hot but, that's only because they are cooked to order now. I thought to myself, at least they still have peach cobbler. To my surprise, it wasn't thoroughly cooked and was cold as well. It didn't even taste good. It is very sad to see the quality of this place go downhill this way. By the time we left, it made perfect sense to me why the restaurant was so empty. To top it all off, I swear I don't think the fish the served was even U.S. Farm Raised catfish. I think it was cheap Swaii from China. If I found out they charged me $52 for Chinese Swaii I would be on a whole other level of upset. Sorry to say that I will not be going back to this once great establishment.

Pretty pricey at $25 a person, but the food is pretty decent. The corn nuggets, jalapeño poppers, hush puppies, and butterfly shrimp are all awesome. The catfish is decent. There’s spicy and regular. Pretty well stocked salad bar. If you love fried catfish, this would probably be worth it for you.

So my bf came across the Feed Sack on fb and we are about an hour away from the location but thought we’d give it a try yesterday. We arrived a little before 5pm for the dinner buffet. Let me start out by saying I wish more buffet places had a “one trip” price because I rarely go back for seconds and don’t eat $25 worth of buffet, but yes I know that defeats the purpose of a buffet lol. I will start out with the taco bar, i tried a chicken quesadilla but wasn’t impressed at all. Nothing else looked good to me. As for the catfish buffet, the fish was good, the 2 pieces I had. The corn on the cob was so good! I also had some okra, hush puppies, corn nuggets and some tartar sauce on the side. Everything from the catfish buffet was good just not really worth the drive or $25. Moving on to dessert, we knew there would be 2 choices before going but i wasn’t expecting really cold peach cobbler and bread pudding. Also if you see on their page (like we did) buffet prices of $7.99 and $9.99 just know that is not accurate. I knew better than to expect those prices for a buffet these days, but some people may really go in expecting those prices. We emailed a week before going in requesting details on pricing but never received a response. No big deal. All in all the catfish buffet and salad bar were fresh and good, not impressed with the taco bar or cold desserts. We wouldn’t make the drive just to eat there but if ever in the area we might stop in again. And for those concerned, the restrooms are clean 👍🏼

Food wasn't good like at all. Cute place but you have to serve yourself entirely including your drink. Definitely not somewhere I'd eat again. Oh and not to mention $50 for two people. Not large family friendly.

This is a great place to eat! It was the first time for me, but not for my wife. She has been here several times before we got married. We will definitely be back again as there is a great variety of items to choose from and the drink and all the food you want is included in one price. Definitely worth what you spend.

Fish was tough. Salad was pitiful. Peach cobbler pitiful, tartar sauce was bitter.

Very casual buffet. Good food, though disappointed they had no seafood this time. Nice folks, cool building. Very Texan.
