We came to The Old Gin for Valentine’s Dinner Date night, and they were super busy! All staff was kind and in a good mood. Kris at the front keep us up to date on our wait, and our waitress Emily got our order correct and the food was fantastic. Will be back

Probably one of the best places to eat near Mexia. Sometimes the service can be terrible but overall great atmosphere and food. Just don’t order the chili it’s can Hormell chili with some cheese and the new pizzas are all bread.

Me and my family of 7 were their was not happy we got our dinner after 2 hours of being there. One of our appetizers was delivered to the wrong table and we had to wait another 45 minutes for our appetizer. Their chicken fried steak was burnt to a crisp couldn’t even take a bite. All of our food came out cold 10 out of 10 do not recommend if I could give zero stars I would.

We stopped in while traveling back to Houston from Dallas. This place was a great find! Delicious food: burger, beef baked potato (on of the specials). Food was great, sweet tea was perfect, and great backyard play area for the kids with swings and slides. If we lived here, we’d be there all the time!

We've been here several times, both busy and slow and while the food is good when its right, the overall experience is a disappointment. Wait staff was borderline rude as well as unreasonably slow. Drinks were watered down and orders were wrong.

What an amazing little restaurant and bar! Great drinks & and food, and the service was top-notch. We were entertained by the very talented Lefty Maddox. Fantastic! If you get the chance, stop by this gem in Wortham
Not great but there was a table of 20. I believe it would be better next time

Really liked this place on way back to Texas from Louisiana. Service and food was great. Only minor suggestions I have is that I would have ordered the Cuban if changes were allowed. I would have asked for mustard, no mayo, no onions and regular pickles. I like my Cubans to be served the traditional way. Mayo, onions and sweet pickles do not a Cuban make. It should never be called a certain sandwich or recipe if you're making so many changes to it that it changes it to something else, but I still liked this place so much because they had other choices and we were happy.
But like I said no knocks on the restaurant because everything else was great.

I just feel they value the “old gin” thing more than preparing great food. We had steaks and should have stopped elsewhere and had a burger instead. I’m sure their regulars(it’s a small town) think much more highly of the food than it deserves, only because they know the owners or something. Would eat there again but would definitely not waste money on their steaks.

Family friendly restaurant with live country music. We had the mozarella sticks, which were very good as was the strawberry margarita.
