I was so impressed with this restaurant! From the wait staff, to the atmosphere, and the food! The wait staff was so welcoming, kind, and attentive (12/10!). The atmosphere is elegant and charming. I want to come back when the outdoor patio is open! THE FOOD! Utah is not known for great food, but this place broke that stereotype. The salads, custom mocktails/cocktails, fig burrata appetizer, Filet mignon, and gnocchi bolognese were to die for. My favorite part was the cheesecake. It was so light and fluffy! (12/10!) I will try to edit this later with photos.

They have a Michelin star trained chef and everything we ordered was delicious. I’m not exaggerating when I said the cognac sauce on the filet mignon almost made me cry. Service was exceptional. The 70s disco music didn’t fit the vibe of the rest of the place and was pretty strange but overall we loved our experience.

Nice atmosphere and the service was great but the food was not impressive for the fine dining experience nor worth the lofty price charged. Taste, presentation needs some work.

Went here late in 2025 and again this month and the atmosphere has really tanked. The food was good but quite a bit more expensive than what you would think for the experience. The staff has lowered from the standards of a high end restaurant to something similar to a Texas Roadhouse. Our server Jacob had an uncomfortable vibe and spoke to me and my date along with another young couple next to us as though we were children. I ordered the ribeye and it was cooked properly but was almost half fat.

The Pines gave us one of the best dinner experiences we have ever had in SLC. Our server, Jacob, was exceptional and knew his stuff about the menu and wine selection. The fettuccine alla bolognese was the best bolognese I’ve ever had, and the ambience made for the perfect dinner. We will definitely be going back!

We had an amazing experience at The Pines. Jacob provided outstanding service , he was friendly, attentive, and made sure everything was perfect from start to finish. He truly went above and beyond and made our visit even more enjoyable. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was great. We’ll definitely be back and hope to be served by Jacob again!

Great French onion soup. Leaf of thyme was a nice touch.

Gnocchi bolognese that AI recommended here was pretty good, perhaps slightly overcooked as the texture was a bit mushy for me, but the sauce and presentation were great.

Definitely a great cozy spot for a classy dinner. Great attentive service, decently decorated as well.

I'd put 4.5 if I could!

We have been going here for over 8 years when it was The Charleston. This restaurant was already a standout, but under new ownership it has truly become something special. The food has always been exceptional, and I’m happy to say that hasn’t changed—in fact, it’s better than ever. What has changed is the atmosphere. The new owners have created a warm, welcoming environment that immediately makes you feel at ease, complemented by refreshed décor that feels both elegant and inviting.

The service still reflects everything you’d expect from a fine dining experience —professional, attentive, and polished — without any hint of pretension. It’s clear that the team genuinely wants guests to feel comfortable and cared for, which elevates the entire experience.

The menu strikes a perfect balance between honoring what longtime patrons love and introducing exciting new elements. All the best dishes from the previous menu remain, while new, creative offerings and thoughtfully crafted cocktails add an extra layer of fun and sophistication. Each visit feels fresh and inspired.

What’s most impressive is the consistency. Somehow, every time we dine here, we leave feeling like that meal was the best one yet. It’s rare to find a place that not only maintains its high standards through a change in ownership, but actually improves upon them. This restaurant hasn’t just preserved its excellence—it has taken it to a whole new level.

The food was awesome—everything was very tasty! The plating was creative. Jacob, our server, went above and beyond and made the whole experience outstanding. 150 year old building is cool as well.

We had an exceptional dining experience at The Pines. Occupying a beautifully restored brick home, we found the food majestic and the service impeccable. We ordered:

- 40oz Tomahawk (daily special entrée) A+: the best tomahawk I’ve ever tried!
- Short Rib (daily special entrée) A: very flavorful and tender
- Salmon Sashimi (appetizer) A: melts in your mouth!
- Herbed Salmon (entrée) A: rich flavor, flaky and moist texture
- Grilled Octopus (appetizer) B+: exceptional flavor but a bit chewy

Before tipping, we spent $363 dollars for a 4-person meal (no alcohol, no dessert, only water).
We loved The Pines! Highly recommended!
