I admit they were possibly overwhelmed. The parks by lot was crammed full, so we used the drive-thru. The person manning the station had great difficulty taking the order, first nearly giving our daughter cheese curds instead of a cheeseburger and then almost giving us only burgers and, after much confusion, drinks, not entire combos. We went to check out and the DQ card we had with us failed. It was one thing after another: the drinks were not marked and so I had to taste them to find out which was which. The burgers also were not marked, thankfully all different from a single patty for our daughter to a triple for me. It was overall a sad mess.

This is my second visit here & food is really good . Dairy Queen is actually one of my favorite fast food to eat in New York City . But in Staten Island both of the locations are out of business now so I missed their fish sandwiches!

The workers are very nice respectful hard working . But the lady manager kinda of stingy when it comes to ketchup lol . For both of us they only gave me 3 packets , I was like I need more ketchup, we have fries too . Then she gave me 2 more ketchup! I didn’t know if I should laugh or cry lol

The atmosphere up here is so lay back, not like So. Cal. Which is very refreshing. DQ was clean, so were the restrooms. Safe place to stop, get gas & food.

It took over 30 minutes to get our food to go, and I keep watching as they have to remake blizzards for customers because they made the ice cream 20 minutes before the food is ready and also handing off wrong food through the drive through. The kitchen is too slow. I would recommend training a manger to train on holding off making the ice cream until the hot food is almost ready.

Take your restaurant off google if it’s never gonna open again. Ordering system has been “broken” for over one month now. Just bite the bullet and take it off google

Worst service I've received at a dairy queen. Kid at the front counter didn't yell out our number and by the time we noticed it was done the ice cream had melted.

I got up to the counter to order after quite a wait but they were busy, Sofia was at the register and just seemed like she was completely inconvenienced. No smile, no welcome just a dull teacher tone like she hated her job(I’m sorry.) I will not be returning anytime soon and I’m through here all the time.

The Perils of Fast Food: A Case Study of Dairy Queen
Abstract
Dairy Queen’s fast food appeal hides health, satisfaction, and economic risks, shown by a chaotic visit: sticky counters, missing condiments, 20-minute delays for undelivered ice cream, with no apologies. These reflect fast food issues: unhealthy menus, poor service, and high costs, especially for low-income groups. This study explores how Dairy Queen exemplifies these problems and solutions, using customer accounts, nutrition data, and trends. It addresses health risks like obesity, costing $150B yearly (CDC, 2022), service failures tied to low wages ($12/hr; BLS, 2023), and pricing burdens in food deserts (Urban Institute, 2022). Sugary items drive disease; 60% of customers report delays (QSR Magazine, 2023). Solutions include training, transparent pricing, healthier menus, and sugar taxes, which cut drink sales 7% in Mexico (Public Health Nutrition, 2016). This study urges reforms for better experiences and health.
Chapter 1: Introduction
Dairy Queen, part of the $900B fast food industry (Statista, 2023), fails in a firsthand account: grimy tables, missing sauces, 20-minute waits for ice cream that never arrives. These highlight health risks, service failures, and economic strain. This dissertation asks: How does Dairy Queen reflect fast food challenges, and what interventions help? Chapter 2 covers health impacts, Chapter 3 service issues, Chapter 4 economic burdens, Chapter 5 solutions, Chapter 6 concludes. Using accounts, data, and trends, it seeks reforms for better experiences and health, urging sustainable practices.
Chapter 2: Health Risks
Dairy Queen’s menu has nutritional flaws. A cheeseburger meal with a Blizzard has 1,600 calories, 2,600mg sodium, 80g sugar, exceeding USDA guidelines (2,000 calories, 2,300mg sodium, 50g sugar), fueling 42% U.S. obesity (CDC, 2022). Regular intake raises heart disease risk 35% and diabetes 27% (The Lancet, 2021). Sugary desserts, often delayed, link to anxiety (Smith et al., 2020). Minimal vegetables cause deficiencies; only 10% of items meet health standards (USDA, 2023). Obesity costs $150B yearly (CDC, 2022). Youth marketing (40% of ad budget; Nielsen, 2021) entrenches unhealthy habits.
Chapter 3: Service Failures
Dairy Queen’s sticky counters, missing condiments, and 20-minute delays for undelivered ice cream show chaos. Industry-wide, 60% report delays (QSR Magazine, 2023). Low wages ($12/hr; BLS, 2023) and poor training cause understaffing. Unsanitary conditions pose risks. Service drives 70% of complaints (Consumer Reports, 2023). Better training and staffing are needed.
Chapter 4: Economic Burdens
Dairy Queen’s $10+ meals, despite poor service, reflect rising costs, up 6% yearly (BLS, 2023). Low-income areas, reliant on fast food in food deserts (Urban Institute, 2022), face strain. Youth marketing (40%; Nielsen, 2021) drives demand despite low value. High prices hurt satisfaction and fairness.
Chapter 5: Solutions
Dairy Queen needs better training and staffing to fix delays and sanitation. Transparent pricing and healthier options like low-sodium items help. Public campaigns and sugar taxes, cutting drink sales 7% in Mexico (Public Health Nutrition, 2016), can shift behavior. Cooking programs reduce fast food reliance.
Chapter 6: Conclusion
Dairy Queen shows fast food’s issues: unhealthy menus, poor service, high costs. Obesity costs $150B (CDC, 2022); understaffing erodes trust; prices burden low-income groups. Training, healthier menus, pricing, and taxes offer reform. Future efforts should focus on scalable changes for better experiences and health

**A Five-Star Disaster**

If you’re looking for an immersive experience in chaos, this place delivers in spades! From the moment I walked in, I was treated to a visual feast—sticky counters, grimy tables, and a serving area so delightfully cluttered with open fry sauce containers that I almost mistook it for a modern art installation.

The real adventure began with the quest for condiments. Three sauces? Gone. Vanished. A true mystery of the culinary world. But no worries—because patience is a virtue here! Five minutes to place an order, followed by a blissful twenty-minute meditation session while waiting for food.

And then, the pièce de résistance: the ice cream saga. Not once, not twice, but *three* times I was assured it was coming—only to be forced to watch others bask in their frozen delights while I pondered my life choices.

All of this, of course, was presented with an unwavering commitment to zero apologies. A truly bold move, showcasing an unprecedented level of customer service indifference.

Would I return? Only if I needed a refresher in disappointment.
