Dairy Keen - Home of the Train

My favorite place growing up.

Wife had a hamburger... disappoinment. No flavor. Patty may have been 1/4 raw but cooked down tiny and flavorless.
Sister in law had chicken fingers. Standard freezer bag stuff. Yawn

I ordered fish and chips and the lady behind the counter says..fish and fries all snooty. The meal is fish and chips, its universal nomenclature. I don't need to be corrected.

Staff we interacted with seemed grumpy. Gave my sister in law the wrong fries and when asked they just said...oh well and didn't replace.

Maybe we are just used to Midwestern hospitality. Would not return here.

We have an old DairyMart location in St Louis, now called Young's...waaaaay better. Cannot believe this place is so busy.

The house made tartar sauce was excellent, bumping a 1 star review to 2 star

Very packed when we went but they had a great system to get all our food out and without a long wait. Big portions, reminds me of Leatherbys. Shakes were amazing and fun atmosphere for kids and adults. Just a bit dirty due to so many ppl coming and going

Fun place for lunch. Super busy when we were there on a Saturday at 3:00. The chicken strips were the best. Turkey sandwich had good turkey but had a lot of bread compared to how much turkey. The fries and tots were pretty good.

This place was once in my top 5 favorite restaurants. Now? I flat out refuse to support this place.

Overpriced shakes. Garbage burger patties. Constantly dirty tables and floors. Usually loud, crowded and busy, drowning with kids. Terrible service and death glares from the old ladies at the cash register. Asking for tips with zero service.

I get my burgers and shakes from Holiday Lanes or Chubbys now. Both are cheaper all around and better quality. The train flare isnt worth the extra $ they tack on to everything and they're definitely not hurting for money.

Food was okay, wait was not. They forgot to give us our fries and ice cream and seemed very bothered to make them for us. The air fresheners spray down on your food while you’re trying to eat.

Dairy Keen has always been a favorite. Overall my food order is almost always accurate and fresh and hot. Typically i go through the drive thru and while I do have a little bit of some different requests , the person takin the order each time is usually pretty quick to understand what I ask for. Between ordering and sometimes waiting in the designated areas at the drive thru I’ve never had to wait more than about 6-8 minutes after paying which isn’t too big of a deal. Sometimes their younger staff forgets little things like utensils or napkins but overall I’ll continue to go there .

Restaurant celebration of its 75th anniversary.
Plenty of parking and there are train tracks painted in the the drive through.
Cozy atmosphere with some outdoor seating. Train theme everywhere.
Order your food, get a buzzer and grab a seat or check out the train exhibits while they cook your food fresh.
My Pastrami Burger was amazing and my wife thoroughly enjoyed her grilled chicken gluten free sandwich and fries. Those fries were delicious!
