Ahh. Okay. I was naive initially when looking at places to eat in the Zion area. I had seen two different businesses under the same name of Buffalo Trails Trading company, and additionally a company by the name of The Cactus Room, that all looked like the same place online and had the same menus displayed on the reviews. I gave it a shot regardless, but upon entering, my friends and I immediately realized how unsanitary this place was, from the plywood ceilings to the dust covered jewelry cases, my stomach immediately started churning. Ignoring my intuition, we ventured to peek at the whiteboard menu with the marked up the prices for food and saw how odd a “Hawaiian pasta salad with garlic bread” and a “rosemary/raspberry chipotle chicken breast with spaghetti western potatoes” were to have on the menu.
When we recognized this, we quickly told the owner we were in there for “pie to-go” just to be nice, given his enthusiasm. We had asked him what kind of pies he had on the menu since they weren’t listed on the whiteboard, and he gave a speech to the ENTIRE restaurant about the pies he had, so he didn’t have to repeat this announcement to every guest who was curious about dessert options. After this 3 minute long announcement, we should have taken that as a cue to leave, but instead, ordered the pies, and waited a whole 20 minutes for something that we had figured was pre-prepared. While waiting, we recognized the owner was a one-man show, basically acting as a waiter, checking people out, and cooking the food. We waited patiently and thankfully, took the pies and ate dinner elsewhere. After dinner, we ended up eating the pies we purchased, considering each slice was $10 each. We thought these were going to be at least worth the $10 each ($30 for 3 slices of pie), but instead, we got what amounted to be 3 slices of stomach-cramping, like Reddi Wip mixed with canned puree on a Pillsbury pie crust. Needless to say, after a few bites, the remains were discarded. I’ve had better pies in the frozen section of a grocery store. I write this as a warning to anyone who is looking for a proper pie, or even a sanitary burger after a long day of hiking.

Great food, nice staff. The chef sometimes comes out of the kitchen and looks at who he is cooking for. Very personable.

The people who work here make this place off the hook. Bob is wonderful, but also the food is so great too. The buffalo or wagyu burger, fresh made French fries, and anything else is fabulous. Maybe don’t come here if you want some elegant night out. This is an eclectic artsy place where if you enjoy that kind of thing, you’ll love love love it!!
The beer is great, let Bob choose for you - it’s all wonderful. I highly recommend!

I got the bison burger. Best burger I’ve ever had! Loved the banana cream pie. And service was SO good.
Love to see all of the Native American / Indigenous art too.

I want to start by acknowledging that the staff here was very kind and helpful, which we appreciated. However, our experience was far from satisfactory. After waiting 1.5 hours for our food, I was shocked to find a rubber band in my dish. This is completely unacceptable. On top of that, the food itself was inconsistent—some dishes were overly salty, while others were bland. Despite the great service, this incident seriously affected our experience, and unfortunately, we won’t be returning. Thank you for your understanding.

Ok, so the one star reviews must be from totally spoiled people. This place is not one of your chain restaurants with no soul. Bob the owner is truly one of a kind and the other staff was very friendly too. The buffalo Burger was very good. As it gets busy sometimes and there are not many employees the wait can be a bit longer, but it was worth it and Bob provided the entertainment. Will visit again!

Bob is amazing and entertaining! He loves to interact with all his customers. He personally explains the menu. Buffalo burger and the fish and chips were both delicious! Homemade desserts are hard to choose from but tried the banana cream pie and it was perfect!

After hearing that buffalo burger is a must try in this area. I figured why not when in Zion.
Upon entering the restaurant I was Leary and apprehensive. The place has a lot of character, rustic, and charm. I saw a few patrons dining. I figured they are still here .
The owner is friendly and chatty. I ordered the buffalo burger to go.
It was cooked medium well and tasty. The fries were a bit soggy.
I’d say I had my experience while in the area.

The chef, Bob, was an incredible personality, and delivered a dining experience unlike any other. The wagyu burger was excellent and all the pies were delicious.
We came in later in the evening coming back from Zion and found the place busier than usual. Bob took care of business, decided our beers for us (perfectly, I might add), gave an excellent presentation to the dining room about the dessert options, and gave us all story about his childhood antics.
If you're looking for great food and likely a lot more personality than any other restaurant you've been to, there is no better place.

Not one to leave bad reviews so here it goes. Burger had good flavor but not for the price. The place is extremely outdated and hasn’t been cleaned in what looks to be a while. The waitress wiped the table with windex. The owner Bob was really nice and acted as a waiter and chef as well. He and the full time chef stayed busy. The waitress was very unprofessional and was eating with food in her mouth while taking our order. While we were waiting to order, she promoted a Mexican restaurant down the street to people who came in to order to go. I’m guessing Bob gave her constructive criticism at one point because we heard her talking back then slamming things around. Took us an hour to get our food, no water refills, and no other attentiveness throughout our stay, we had to go up to the register to ask for our check. The Cactus Room is attached to this restaurant and ran by the same people. Again, I’m not one to write a bad review but this place does not deserve 4.6 star rating…very deceiving!!

Very hospitable and homey feeling dining here. The food was excellent - we got the burger, steak sandwich and the owner made my daughter delicious spaghetti and meatballs which were not on the menu. Dessert was delicious and the only thing we took a pic of since we scarfed down our meal so fast!
Kid-friendliness: Owners were so understanding with all the babies around!

The food wasn't good. One of the salads had a bag plastic tag and overall not satisfied.

This had to be the best food and dessert during my trip to Zion.
If you're hungry this is a must stop.
