Black Bear Diner has great food in a cozy and fun environment! The bear / country theme is adorable.

My daughters really wanted to dine outside, so Daniela was kind enough to open the outside area for us, even though it had previously been closed for rain! Her kindness made their night! The patio area was super relaxing and quiet.

The kids meals are about $5-$6 and come with the choice of a sundae or strawberry cup. Kids’ drinks must be purchased separately, which was a little bit of a downer, but it helped keep meal prices lower.

The menu has comfort food favorites and all-day breakfast!

We noticed that kids eat free on Tuesdays, so we may have to start coming more often and hitting up the Tuesday deal!

Food was good but service was not so good they did not come over to us very often and ask us if we needed anything.

They have so many different food options to choose from, there should be something for everyone whether you want breakfast, lunch, or a large dinner plate. The food is always good, but the service can be hit or miss.

One of my favorite places to have breakfast has friendly and professional staff that make you feel welcomed and at home.

I ordered a lemonade that i never got. I also ordered a side salad that did not come but was charged for it. Once the food was sat down, we did not get checked on at all. We did not see our server to tell her that we didn't receive what we ordered. Definitely was not happy with the service from our server Danielle. It also took 10 minutes before someone greeted us and got us a table. We waited 15 minutes at the front desk waiting for someone so we could pay.

Came here after hiking Adams canyon for some lunch. We were super tired and hungry and they wasted no time getting us seated. Great job all around.

We walked in and it was disorganized - focusing on check outs and ignoring parties to be seated. Then seated and waited quite a while for our server… food came fairly quickly -and the gravy for the biscuit and gravy was cold. My fries were awesome and hot.
Just not a great experience.

It is 8:50am on 08/10/2025. We just walked out of the Black Bear Diner in Layton Utah. W arrived and entered the lobby. Two waitstaff had their backs to us while discussing the jukebox. Another waiter from another section came over and seated us. There were plenty of waitstaff, and open tables. 15-20 minutes later no drinks and no service..we walked out. Headed over to Ramblin’ Roads for breakfast…better service..
