Tsunami Restaurant & Sushi Bar - Traverse Mountain

I’m going to leave a lengthy review due to how often I come here and how much money I’ve spent here.

My daughter and I came in yesterday, and I’m extremely disappointed with how our visit was handled. Up until now, I’ve always had good experiences at this location, but last night was unacceptable.

We ordered the salmon rangoon (completely dripping in oil, inedible), the Vegas roll, spicy Masa roll, yozu appetizer, brownie, and apple tart. My daughter enjoyed her Vegas roll, but my Masa roll was falling apart and nothing like the quality I’ve had there before.

The biggest issue: a long white hair was in my daughter’s brownie. Neither of us has white/blonde hair, so this was extremely concerning and disgusting. When I brought this to the manager, instead of apologizing properly or addressing the seriousness of the situation, he tried to dismiss me quickly in front of other customers—offering to refund only the $10 dessert and rushing me out. To make matters worse, I paid in cash, not card, so that “refund” didn’t even make sense.

I was a loyal customer, but this experience, with the poor food quality, lack of care about food safety, and the manager’s dismissive attitude, was truly disappointing. I expected better, and I hope you take this seriously because this is not the way to handle customers or food safety issues.

Matthew is amazing. Great server. Friendly and always takes care of us. :) We are regulars and come at least once a month. The vegan sushi is the best in town!

Had an awesome experience today at Tsunami, our first time there. Food was amazing and our server Amara made it a memorable occasion. Highly recommend ...we'll be back!

Skip the sushi and just get the Negima as your entree. I’m joking … but not really. The negima dish was much better than any of the sushi that I tried. Not to say the sushi was bad, but this dish was SO GOOD! I also got some edamame which is always fun. For sushi I got a hand roll, the rainbow roll, the executive suite, and the PD. I wasn’t amazed by any of them and they tasted a tiny bit bland. They could’ve used some more flavor or a bit of spiciness. That said, sushi isn’t really known for its flavor. The major negative part was that I left hungry because the rolls just weren’t filling at all. All in all, the fish was high quality, the rolls were good, and the atmosphere was also good.
If you want to go here, make a reservation because it can fill up quick.

THE FLOOR WAS SO STICKY IN THE ENTIRE RESTAURANT. Even the bathroom was sticky. I question the sanitation of the restaraunt if the floors were that bad.
The atmosphere is inviting and comfortable. Annoying that the menu is digital with a QR code. Our family would much prefer a physical menu. The menu options and variety were good. Upon receiving our food, we felt like our tempura veggies were soggy, and our chicken and salmon was dry. They don’t do anything for birthdays either. It was just good, underwhelmed based on how much it was to eat there. Can’t say I’d recommend.

Higher end sushi Restraunt! We love to go here on date nights or with friends. The Jenny roll is my go to! The staff is always friendly and professional, clean and quiet environment.

My husband and I went here for the first time today and it was such an amazing experience. We sat at the bar and everyone working in the back looked so happy and got along so well. Our server was amazing and I’m so sad I did not get her name. I have never felt so special at a restaurant before. The manager Harrison even brought us a delicious dessert for free as our first time here and I almost cried. I am amazed by the kindness of the employees here and the quality of the food was incredible. I was even asked if I had any food allergies which no one has ever asked me. I am allergic to avocado and sesame and they all made sure everything I had was safe and free of those things. I am just blown away! We found our new sushi place ❤️

We went to dinner at Tsunami Lehi for our anniversary recently, and had a wonderful time. We were sat within minutes of our reservation time and barely had to wait upon arriving to the lobby. Our server was attentive, very kind, and provided wonderful menu suggestions. I honestly had zero interest in dining here (my spouse loves it), as I did not have a very good experience the times before, but I have definitely changed my mind after this last visit.
