Mandarin Garden Restaurant

I was here 9 months ago and it was good. But I have to go back and edit my review. We got take out tonight for my family. Cashew chicken had no flavor. General Tao's tasted like he had been demoted to Private (i.e. zero spice). Even the sweet and sour sauce lacked any depth. I hate to say it, but it's what someone would stereotypically expect from a county that is >80% Caucasian. 🤷‍♂️

We ordered food from here on Uber eats (we were staying at a hotel in town) when they delivered the food, the didn't provide anything to eat it with. We called them and they said too bad, you have to actually order utinsils off you want them and we're VERY rude.

The plan was Panda Express. But the plan is Always Panda.. So we wanted to find something different and hopefully Better. Which we were shocked to see that we had found exactly that at the Mandarin Garden. The menu size is massive. The food was freaking great. And our server was super helpful, i wish i remembered her name. But it was somewhat confusing on how exactly to order our food. And she was very quick and willing to walk us through the menu. I'm pretty positive we won't be going back to Panda Express anymore lol... Oh shit, Also and most importantly, we spent Less money than we would at Panda and we got Much larger portions of food. 🔥

I miss the old restaurant. But good things first:
They give good portion sizes, they are very reasonably priced, the waitress was nice! The restaurant was clean and food was good.

The less good: Is it just me or is the tiny spicy chicken different? It was zero percent spicy today when we tried the newer location. It used to have a nice little bit of a kick and tons of flavor.

And the old location just had a more cozy and private feel that I miss. Please bring back the old tiny spicy! 🙏🏽

So sad, I just started back to Mandarin after many years. I wanted to give them a try again. When I ordered my food they wanted me to pay $1.00 for extra garlic. When have we ever paid for extra spices. What is this world coming to? I will never go back. Even if it took a whole clove, a head of garlic is under a $1. But it probably would not even be a whole clove.

The food is usually great. My issue with this restaurant is the containers they use for takeout orders and door dash. A dish with liquid (curry) should be in a container with a sealed lid. 4/5 times that I’ve ordered the red curry on DoorDash all the curry sauce spills out of the container leaving me with just veggies and tofu.

We used to LOVE the old location. Everything was great, but honesty I am embarrassed for the new location. Awful service. What happened?!

This is maybe my 3rd review ever good and bad. I feel like this one has earned a review and I don’t want others to experience what I did. Worst place to eat in cache valley, if you look at reviews you need to divide the old location and the new location!!! Old location was great, New location is horrible! Never had such bad service. We walked in about 8:35 and right off the bat they were telling me I had to order fast and that the kitchen closes at 9:15 (they are open until 9:30) we were waiting for my wife to meet us there so I called her and ordered so we could accommodate the staff. I ordered an A combination plate and was told they were out of food for A and needed to Order B plate (more expensive) then I was told that they were out of egg drop soup and offered hot spicy, I do not like spicy soup and asked for a discount because they did not have all the food that came with the meal I ordered. (Btw what Chinese restaurant runs out of egg drop soup?) the Manager said no I had to have spicy soup. Sorry I’m not paying for food I don’t want to eat, if your menu says something, then that is what is expected. Staff was extremely rude, I walked out! There are plenty of places to eat that want to serve you and will treat you like they want you to come again, I will never set foot through their door again!
