My wife left a luggage which contains valuables. I just called the hotel and left 2 massages but i got no return call yet may be it is off hour. We are currently 3.5 hrs away and i plan to return to the hotel tomorrow. I hope there are honest people there.

The Trading Post, Hotel, and Restaurant are all top tier! Indian Tacos and Burrito were superb - a little hot sauce made them both perfect.Bernard (chef) was very friendly and came out to check if we were enjoying our meal. Great service! It is cash only at the moment (10/1-10/9) as the credit card machine is broken.Hotel was clean and as described! Its not the most modern thing around, but it really is the prettiest and has a very homey feel. We would definitely stay here again.

Idk who they have in the kitchen, but they are absolutely exceptional. The staff was amazing. The atmosphere was stellar. Amazing music wofted around us as we danced ourselves from window to window drinking in the most amazing river side view. They are serving magic at this little restaurant.
Run away! Don't book with this hotel, they're scammers. They charged us 2 times the same amount even though we only stayed one night. And even though we asked for our money back several times, they wouldn't refund us. What's more, the price is very high for a small, basic motel.
Scrumptious Indian tacos at restaurant. Hotel is very basic but location more than makes up for it. Good jumping off place to get to Monument Valley early.

What shall I say … Check the pictures. Felt more like a BnB in a crime scene. Door could not be locked and owners had to check electricity for other rooms in our room (!) a view times, as it seems all connections come together in one room. GO somewhere else
We are from the UK and travelling around the USA, mainly route 66. We stayed just the one night. The staff were good with directions for us and the room was fine, with a lovely view over the river, the on site restaurant was good for our evening meal.
The San Juan Inn was a quaint little Inn in a picturesque area with cliffs behind the hotel and a river in front. The hotel is clean, quiet and comfortable and placed in an area that is a comfortable drive to Monument Valley. We enjoyed the trading post and convenience store located in the office and all of the comfortable outdoor seating areas. The Wi-Fi is a bit spotty but one has to remember that the hotel is not in a major city and that a location such as theirs can not supply all the things we are spoiled to.
This is NOT a fancy. Very basic. The location is what makes it worth while. Nestled in a corner of the incredible vista around Monument Valley are stunning. The motel itself is perched atop the ravine that carries the San Juan River through the area. It is very picturesque with the red rocks of the surroundings contrasted with the (sometimes muddy) river below. The rooms are adequate, but people don't book this motel for the rooms. It's so they can spend time OUT of the room exploring the area.
This is a older hotel but everything is unique and very comfortable... incredible views. Cafe there has very good food and a really sweet Navajo waitress. Food was outstanding. I had the Cowboy beef sandwich on fry bread. My wife Juvy had the chicken wings w homemade fries. ?
The lodging was peaceful and enjoyable. No complaints with the Inn. My complaint is with the restaurant. Loved the outdoor deck on the second floor. The restaurant was disappointing. We were a small group, going on a raft trip and we needed the checks split a different way than how the server did it. Instead of two meals on one tab. We needed the second meal on a different person's tab. Instead of entering the base cost of the meal for both customers, the server put the total of one person's tab (including tax), added the second person's charges (without tax) and then added tax to everything. I questioned it and the server said she was new and would talk to the manager. I told her I was getting charged twice for the tax. She talked to the manager, who YELLED ACROSS THE RESTAURANT that it's not much money and that's a tax for the state of Utah and I just had to pay it because they wouldn't redo the checks. I thought that was extremely rude and lazy on the part of the restaurant manager since it should have been easy enough to redo the check without charging sales tax twice. Perhaps this restaurant gets so much business that management does't have to be polite? Perhaps the manager thinks that tourists are willing to waste their money, especially retirees?
The Inn sits next to the bridge over the San Juan river and thus has pride of place in this sleepy wide spot in the road. The rooms have improved greatly over the 40 years that I have passed by this place. The Inn has been around, in one form or another, for many years, so it has a very local ambiance -- don't expect chain-hotel amenities but savor what it does offer. There are many comfortable outside seating areas where you can enjoy the river and the red rock formations across the way. The restaurant offers good, basic fare (Navajo tacos and hamburgers) served by friendly staff. So, what's not to like? This beats the mega-tourist places in nearby Monument Valley by a lot, in my opinion. Very restful and uncrowded.
