Cafe Rio Fresh Modern Mexican

I love Cafe Rio but this location is so bad. It’s very dirty, service is terrible, and food is always prepared wrong. The employees are sloppy and they throw the food together in a sloppy way. In future I will avoid this location.

my wife and I came to Café Rio on Highland Drive this evening. We had a two Enchiladas dinner with drinks. It was truly one of the worst meals we have had. The food was sloppy lack taste, the drink machine had no ice and we nevertheless got two drinks, a Diet Coke and a Dr Pepper. Neither one had any carbonation in them. We have eaten at other Café Rios‘s for many years And I can only say this is the worst one we have ever had.

This is the shrimp they put in my “Baja citrus shrimp tacos” … hard as a rock, couldn’t eat them.

We keep trying this location because it is close to our house. After tonight’s dinner we are done. There are better options nearby. Our salads are always watery and skimp on the protein, rice and beans. My tacos tonight were sitting in liquid so much so that the tortilla was mush and inedible. My husbands burrito was smothered in what was supposed to be the medium sauce but was watery and seemed to have an Asian flavor profile…he described it as chicken broth-like. The quality of many of the Cafe Rio’s has fallen off since the “good old days.” This one in particular has struggled from the beginning.

Somehow, this place (Highland Drive location specifically) always runs out of food…? Hard to have good Mexican food, without rice, without beans, without chicken…?

Was standing in line and watched the grill cook drop a clean cutting board on the ground, landed flat, he looked at it and put it right back on the clean rack. Told the cashier and they said thank you and didn’t pull it.

Would give 0 stars if possible, both of my pick up order experiences have been nothing short of no customer care. My first pick up order i showed up 2 minutes early for, they told me because i showed up 2 minutes early it wasn’t gonna be ready which is understandable, ended up waiting inside for an extra 15-20 minutes and found my burrito to have no cheese or sauce. My second experience i showed up at the time it was supposed to be ready and waited 6 minutes extra just for things to be missing from the salad and my “burrito” was a bunch of ingredients with a tortilla slapped ontop of it.

Sat in the drive thru speaker for 10 minutes as they told me they were busy making to go orders. That's a first in my 30 years of life lol

I want to give this Cafe Rio a better score but their drive through service is terrible. Every single time I use the drive through they mess multiple things up. It’s like they don’t think it matters since we are driving away or something. It’s always multiple parts of the order. It’s very frustrating. They give less amounts of food too.

Edit: tried them again months later and SAME THING happened. There’s absolutely no beans in my order and practically no meat. These guys suck
