Listen up, folks! Gustavo's restaurant on Mother's Day was a real crapshoot. It's like they took incompetence and turned it into an art form. strolling into Gustavo's joint on a busy Sunday. No red carpet, no fanfare--just a cold shoulder and a side of indifference. Not a single "hello" or "I'll be right with you." Nah, they're too busy doing the cha-cha between tables. I mean, I get it, multitasking is hard. But this place? They've got it down to a science. Now, let me rewind to a previous visit. It was my birthday, and I thought, "Hey, why not try Gustavo's?" We were the only suckers in the joint. The food? Meh. But the real kicker? I couldn't customize squat. I wanted a chimichanga, that crispy burrito goodness. But the server says, "No can do amigo with asada. So she plops our plates down and vanishes. No check-ins, no "How's the grub?" Just a one-way ticket to Novela Town. Meanwhile, I'm over here like, "Excuse me" Echoes. wife's giving me the "shush" look, I've had enough. I channel my inner cartel boss and yell, "HEEYYY!" Interrupting her novellas she materializes like day of the dead summoned by bad Yelp reviews. "Don't talk to me like that!" she barks. "Ticket and a box, please," I say. She delivers, minus "you're welcome." I posted a scathing review online but chickened out. Locals, we're desperate--we don't have options! Fast-forward to this Mother's Day. I'm back at Gustavo's, unwittingly. I ask for the chimichanga with Carne Asada. This waitresses response? "Nah, can't fit it." Hold up! Are we assembling a jigsaw puzzle here? It's a few ounces of meat, not a Rubik's Cube. "It wouldn't fit." So I say, "Fine, I'll starve." My mom, bless her heart, threatens to order for me. I glare at the waitress and mutter, "asada Burrito. And please, don't spike my food." Am Im sitting in that godforsaken shack, watching everyone else shovel food into their gaping maws. Nah, I'm on a 20-minute walkabout, contemplating my life choices. Should I just bail? I'd rather ride a rabid coyote than endure another second of Gustavo's nonsense. I return, and my dear mother--bless her heart--gives me that look. You know the one. The "Why are you acting like a mongoloid?" look. But listen up, Mom: I've been through the Gustavo wringer before. These people would prolly swish their unmentionables for me, like undercover whatever. And if I touch that food now, they'll laugh, clap, and probably summon a mariachi band to celebrate my misery.--the waitress from My birthday noticed me, who's like a ninja with a bad attitude. Instead of a burrito, they serve me a slab of flank steak on a plate. The guacamole? Chunkier than a crossword puzzle. More tomatoes than guac. I refuse to EAT anything. I grab tortillas, scrunch everything up like a rage-filled origami master, and shove it into what I asked in Spanish for "THE BOX FOR DOGS" A masterpiece of culinary defiance. We pay the bill, waitress gets a $10 tip. Why? Because I'm a masochist, apparently. But then--plot twist!--Waitress 2.0 recognizes me from my previous showdown. She's like, "Oh, you're the 'MAKE ME WORK' guy!" Yeah, that's me. As we exit, I decide to drop some truth bombs. I stand at the entrance, channeling my inner Gordon Ramsay, and declare, "This service ruined Mother's Day!" I'm not rude--I Apologize and leave. Novella Nancy follows me out, and we engage in a verbal duel while I'm in my car training to leave now, She's yelling, I'm yelling, and suddenly, it's a low-budget telenovela right there in the parking lot. Gustavo's, your very own Soap Opera Novella. The waitress won't go away to release us from her clutches. She threatens to summon the police, and I'm there:

Tasty food & good ambience. The service was good though no one seemed very happy. Good find in Monticello! We would definitely stop here again.

Wonderful little restaurant in Monticello (not a lot to choose from). We stopped in town over night and this was one of our only options but we were pleasantly surprised. Food was fantastic, and servers were helpful and cheerful. A neat little place to stop and enjoy on your travels.

Gustavo's was a pleasant stop to eat as we were passing through the area. From the decor to the Mexican Music to the delicious food, we were very happy with our experience. Check them out if you are in the area!

Heading out of Arches National park, stopped in Gustavo's with low expectations, but we were starving. Mexican food in Utah? How good could it be? Let me tell you, It's AMAZING. The enchiladas and burritos were filling with the best red Chile sauce. Great service, great food, great lemon pie for dessert, and the gorgeously-tatted waitress was as sweet as the pie. I will be coming here again every time we drive through!

Nice place and nice food. I think they could give a little more food for the price they charge. Especially, the beans and rice; they were in small cups.

Good food, nice people, good location. Prices are roughly 20 a person. Very very fast after you order. Plenty of flavor, chips and salsa were great with a spicy edge to it

Quickly seated. Nice atmosphere. I was offered salsa and chips quickly and drink order was taken. I had the Gustavo stacked enchiladas. I'd recommend it. I'd get it again. They even gave me a chocolate covered strawberry for Valentine's Day's

The service was terrible, the country lady ? claimed she was going to call my parents. She was rude to all of the members at the table. She spilt water on me and the table and made us clean it up… the other waitress was really nice and cooperative. And food was yummy in my tummy.
