Been going here for 15 years. Usually a good time. Some plays are better than others. The improv is always fun. Food is ok, not amazing. 18% tip already included into your bill so be aware when adding more to the tip. Overall I do recommend.
Had alot of laughs. Tables are way too small for four ppl. Had wrong food delivered but it was dark so first bite was done when I realized it was a burger not chicken. Salads were overdressed limp. Acting was fantastic. What they did was hilarious. Todd was great as an mc. Would return but eat prior. OK cheese bread pizza style was good. Beer and drinks are not listed on the web page menu but are available.
The play was Great!
The food was skimpy. My chicken was literally 1/2 the size of the bun. Loved the fries. My desert had a little scoop of Ice Cream the bowl was not even filled to the top edge. If I pay almost $30 for dinner, it should be priced right for what you get. Seriously my chicken was the size of a slider on a full sized bun.
The play was very fun, but I was served a raw hamburger. Since the lights were dim, I ate more than half of the burger without realizing since there were enough other condiments that I didn't notice until the lights were turned up. It looked as if it had barely been warmed on each side. I showed the waiter, who in turn took it to the manager and the cook. More than anything, I wanted them to know what they were serving and that people could get very sick from raw hamburger. They came back and said--we'll give you a 20% discount. I wasn't really informing them for a refund, but after I thought about it, they really should have, at the very least, not charged for that meal. And if someone were to get e coli, that measly 20% certainly would not have paid for a hospital bill. I'll never again order anything that needs to be cooked through from Desert Star Playhouse. It left a raw taste in my mouth. Stick with fries.
THE most awful play I have EVER been to! My Mother got my whole family tickets the day after Thanksgiving to the "Greatest Snowman" and it was so disappointing. Do NOT waste your $ let alone your precious time on this play!!!
Will NEVER return!
If you're looking for Utah Family Friendly humor, then the plays here are perfect! You get an old western audience sing-along interaction! The staff is very kind and the play was really enjoyable. My only qualm was the table spacing. They fit two to four people per table, and they're kind of small. We kept knocking over the pizza tray and didn't even order any pizza. That didn't ruin the experience, though, of course. Each table had a complimentary basket of popcorn, which was delightful 😊
Things have changed since I was there earlier this year. The pizza used to be amazing, but last night, we almost left the leftovers behind. The performance was so bad (they’re hit and miss anyway), that we left at the first intermission. I’ve never done that before, anywhere. Gratuity is added as a line item on the bill so customers are forced to pay it—that’s not how gratuity works. Not sure we’ll be back.
I enjoy coming here with a group. The shows are fun and the olios are spectacular. The food is good but if you are in the back half of the theater you are eating in pitch dark.
As an artist, I love the musical theatre, I go to desert star every year with my family for Christmas! Sitting in the front row is always a treat and makes me laugh a ton! The only really disappointing and distracting thing was their new tv background with an AI generated Christmas village… and they persisted throughout the encore of the show…. For a company dedicated to the art of being human with their improv and love of the arts, to use soulless and dead AI generated images for their sets now… it makes me question wanting to go back there in the first place. It made me hyper-focus and seethe in anger at the sets rather than focusing on the work the actors put into each show. If I could I’d love to do the backgrounds of the sets, I’m a digital artist. But plugging words into a robot and it spits out what it steals from human creations… Isn’t art or set design. It’s lazy and a slap in the face to anyone you might inspire with your shows.
Fun experience. Tight quarters!

This was our first time going here.
Cons:
I knew it was going to be cheesy but it was super lame. Think low budget middle school production. Poorly written. Poorly performed for the most part. I only laughed a few times. If you don't like Republican political humor, then this isn't for you. I thought the political humor was distasteful and there is a lot of it. The chairs don't have back support and so I had to sit up the entire time causing my arms to hurt. We were only given one napkin for my husband and I to share. By the time we got more, we had already finished our meals. Reading these comments, I realized that we got double charged for tips. They charge an automatic 18% percent tip on your food and we paid an extra one without knowing this. Total scam! The only water they serve is bottled water that you have to pay for. The parking lot is basically hidden and so we parked someone else and walked there in the freezing cold.
Pros: My husband and I had a table for two and had enough space to eat/move/get up and go to the bathroom comfortably. Sounds like most people didn't get this luxury. The food was good. I enjoyed the decorations in the hallway and the historical pictures on the walls.
Only stayed because my husband spent so much to be here. Curiosity satisfied. Won't be returning. Don't recommend.
We have gone a few years in a row around Christmas time. It's always a blast! The entertainment is funny and family friendly. We usually order the pizza which is just alright.
I've been there probably a half a dozen times and it was always hilarious and fun
The Lord of the Rings spoof play was super funny! We love how simple and fun the shows are. We also like their pizza and nachos and how they give everyone popcorn. The ice cream is great, but the baked good items that come with it leave a bit to be desired. Definitely a fun place to get out to!
I came here for the second time both times the staff were so kind I would recommend the Lord of The Rings parody play.
