I love the tonkatsu here, 10/10 would recommend. But service is slow, and atmosphere is super eerie…

The atmosphere is wonderful. While the size of the restaurant is small, the space is used fantastically.
The food is very delicious & the presentation is as perfect as the atmosphere.
This review is 1 star fewer than perfect, though, since some items look to take up the most space with the fewest material. If I could give this restaurant 6 stars for the presentation, I would, but some items could be more filling considering their cost.
For the total cost of my meal, including an appetizer and dessert, it was around $45. It would have cost a little more if I got 2 special rolls along with dessert. The experience and the service were well worth coming.

The food is good for the most part. You just don't know how long it's been sitting out. An hour? Maybe 4? Who knows. But it's really pricey for the fact I am getting my own food. Not worth. Won't be coming back.

We set a reservation, drove an hour, arrived and was seated right away. We sat at our table for 10 minutes before receiving a menu or a server. All servers walked past us connecting eyes as they past. Our drinks took another 10 minutes. The miso came at the 30 minute mark. During this time 2 other tables had been sat and was eating their main dishes. At the 40 minute mark one of the tables had finished and was out of their seat. Most of our food came around 50 minutes. We ate our meals and waited for the remainder to arrive. At this time the 2nd table had finished and left. The kids were ready to leave. Another 10 minutes go by and I flagged the server down and asked where the last roll was and for more water. Shortly after the last roll arriving. (This roll in particular cost $26.00) The roll came with imitation crab which was specifically asked to remove/not have on there. I removed the crab and ate the roll anyway.
This was my second time at this restaurant and I had been thinking about this place since May/June. I'm bummed about the entire experience and honestly not happy about paying $105 for the service.

Great food, but got approached by one of the waitresses after a few visits. She came over and said "You guys have a bit of a reputation for not tipping here" to me and my girlfriend. Turns out the company basically practices slavery, where employees don't get paid almost at all, and customers are supposed to make it up for them. Awful practice, don't wanna support the 1700's again.

They are SO nice!!!! My tuna roll was great. My husband loved his food as did our friends. My only regret was that they put the fried tofu in a very sweet and syrupy sauce. I wish they would’ve just kept it out of any soupy thing and had some sort of a spicy mayo, dip or something for the tofu. It just got soggy being in this really sweet and syrupy sauce. But regardless, they were so nice. The service was wonderful. Everything was fresh and we had such a good dinner. Just don’t get the fried tofu appetizer unless they change it. It was like tofu in soy sauce and maple syrup. Better crunchy with a dip! I don’t see the point in having a crunchy tofu, if it’s just gonna get soggy sitting in a thick and goopy soup

This has been my preferred place for sushi since it opened. Everything is prepared and presented with care. Very high quality at a reasonable price.

Pretty underwhelming. Prices are high for the small portions. I don’t think I’d go back again.

This is an update to a previous review. Shoga has become our go to place. The sushi continues to be the best in the area. We get very few rolls. They always have some interesting fish. They source the best Uni. We almost always sit at the bar. The seats, unlike many places, have nice backs and are comfortable. By interacting with the chefs, we get more interesting food.
This last trip, they had pressed sushi. What a treat.
Finally, they serve nice miso soup, and it's hot. Everywhere else just seems to be warm. It matters.

Customer for life!
-I ordered on DoorDash and the description on DoorDash did not match what it was supposed to be. I requested a refund as it was not what I expected. Even though the fault was through DoorDash and not the restaurant, Shoga still comped my order and the staff was super patient and friendly through the process. On top of that the sushi was delicious as well. Will definitely be back
