I adore this place. The food has always been very good. No matter if I get breakfast, lunch or dinner. I've always had good service and the prices are fair. This is a great place to go for a good selection of things. It's a favorite of mine as a choice for lunch dates and as a suggestion for family.
It was a simple American style breakfast restaurant. People were nice and the food was what you would expect. But it didn’t have a wait and I was starving.
Vegetarian options: Very little for me to eat without having to take apart a meat entree
I took my daughter-in-law and three granddaughters for lunch last week. We went a bit later and it was not crowded so we got the largest corner table. The waitress was beyond wonderful as were the other staff members we encountered. I quizzed her about the eggs Benedict….wanted them soft and they came out absolutely perfect! This was a wonderful presentation. A fabulous salad, giant club sandwich, huge pancakes and a bear claw waffle made up the rest of the orders. Everyone was happy! It was clean and very comfortable! And a very good Arnold Palmer to boot! And what could be better than all day breakfast! We will be back! Carolyn D.
Very poor tasting waffles. They were like a cake and undercooked as well. The "syrup" is not maple syrup. We had to get up and go ask for forks and knives after our meal was served and napkins too. It wasn't that busy either. Not going back. $40.00 for two waffles, one order of bacon and two cups of coffee. Rather expensive for poor quality.
Had ribs shrimp mashed potatoes and fries. Ribs were good. Fries were good. Mashed potatoes were just warm but good. Shrimp were over battered and overcooked. Worse thing was the kids working playing rap music I could hear very easily and they were cussing. I seriously considered walking out. Either a manager wasn't present or the manager allowed this behavior in front of customers. Either way unacceptable.
Black Bear has been great regardless of what location I've gone too. The crew here was nice, quick , and friendly even after it got busy.
Vegetarian options: Very decent veggie burger and plenty of no-meat options
A diner feel from the south... have eaten there twice and it's OK... so far I have not found my go to meal here yet. But I'm guessing a few of the other plates I have not tried are good. Chicken waffles were not the best. I enjoyed the French toast stuffed with blackberries. But would definitely try something different the next time. Maybe I will up my food score the next time.
well we stopped in today for lunch and had a short wait then everything was great . we all tried the new grilled cheese options but when mine came back I felt it was TOO spicy sausage . they unfortunately said it was the mild and replaced my diner with another option which was amazing... then that came back missing the fried egg .. I was comped my dinner which was a high class move and surprising to say the least . Our server TORI was amazing and I know I caused her some stress but she handled it well !
I really enjoy the environment of Black Bear diner, but the cost compared to food quality isn't to my personal satisfaction. The facility has been clean every time I've been there and the staff are always very friendly. One of my biggest disappointments is the menu for many months has shown bread pudding but the staff state that the company no longer makes it. Since this is one of my favorite treats, it would be really appreciated if they would update the menu so the consumer doesn't feel teased.
Every time we have ever come to this location, they have been out of many items on their menu. The service is less than stellar. If they have items on the menu they should have the food in stock to supply their customers. This is not a one time experience. We have had this experience a half dozen times we have been at this location. Should also mention that my wife only got a drink and they never refilled her drink once. Also basically called my wife a liar when she tried to order something the menu specifically says is available on the weekends after noon. We read it in the menu and they said it wasn't available and they didn't have it.

Well to start off I have been out of town for work, Las Vegas,St George, Salt Lake. And one of my work mates took me to my first one in Vegas. WOW was I surprised by the large portions great service and friendly atmosphere! Great prices to boot. Over two months we ate there at least once a week and was never disappointed. Then we visited the one in St George and then the Salt Lake area. Again super food and service. The funny thing about all this was a work mate from logan kept saying how great the Black Bear in Logan was, so when I returned from being on the road and wanted to connect with some friends I hadn't seen in months. The first place I thought of was the Black Bear in Providence. I told them how much I loved the ones I'd been to out of town and was excited to take them there. We were seated quickly but weren't greated when we came in like all the other ones I'd been to. We ordered and the food came out no problem there. But I looked at the Tri tip dip I ordered and was shocked at how it looked I had to open it to even see any cheese at all and the mushrooms and grilled onions were on the skimpy side. I complained about the cheese and overall appearance of the food and Tori brought out two slices of cheese as if this would fix this. The Tri tip dip I ordered in St George had the cheese hanging over all four sides of the bun and the mushrooms and grilled onions were piled high. The French fries were piled high also. I was expecting the same from this place and was disappointed to say the least. When I read the history of the black bear and portion sizes the first time I visited one I was impressed and have been ever since, until today! We even had to flag our waitress Tori down several times for refills and needed things during our meal. In the outher black bears I've been to the manager always stopped by our table to ask how the food was. Not in this place, there just wasn't that friendly feel here at all. Needless to say I'll not be going back anytime soon. And wouldn't recommend going there. They Don't follow the company creed. Sad to say this about what could be a great restaurant. I really like this place! However, the last time my family of 8 went, they had taken over 40 minutes to tell us they were almost ready to seat us. This is normally not a problem except they had told us it would be just a few minutes to get a table ready. There weren't a lot of other patrons when we got there. Just after us, in different groups, probably 25 people came in and were seated almost immediately. I still like this restaurant. However, at that moment decided if you want to eat here, you better make a reservation if you have 8 o r more. We actually left without eating. We will be back.
The food was delicious, even crisp hash browns, excellent service....fast, cheerful, and correct. Restaurant was impeccably clean and charmingly decorated. Will definitely return!
Awesome food! Got coffee and the big foot meal, basically chicken fried steak and eggs, country potatoes and toast. My toast came out way darker than im used to, so you might specify how toasted you like toast, but other than that, it was great.
I had the amazing special today. Southern Eggs Benedict with hash browns. With a cup of coffee. The servers are super kind. Always had my water and coffee full. Greeted with happiness and smiles. Love stopping in for breakfast here all the time.
