Such awesome and modern food! We sat in the semi-private room with a large group and it was a great place to hang out, talk, and enjoy amazing food!

The food was excellent and unique. We all enjoyed our brunch choices. Service was a little slower than I expected.

We had the burger and pasta. Not a huge wait when we arrived but more people came in and they left due to the large wait time since their dining area is quite small and it filled fast.
Anyways the food was great. Pasta sauce was flavorful and the burger was juicy. Fries were ok but would have been better paired with fry sauce rather than plain ole ketchup.
Overall great place to eat, food is exceptional just be prepared for it to be crowded or come at a time of day that isn’t a rush hour for lunch or dinner.

I believe I would’ve given 5 stars if we dined in! We grabbed to go for a picnic close by. It was ready as soon as we walked in. Flavors were all there, just wish the breakfast bao had more chili sauce. I payed $5 for a can of cherry limeade. I was anticipating a full drink with ice and maybe a fresh lime slice in a togo cup. It’s a can, but seemed to be a great, local company! Just helpful to know. Will definitely be back in person! The interior was stunning!! ?

Food was delicious! We had the tamarind chicken, steak, mashed potatoes, almond butter cake and some margaritas and tequila amarga drinks. All were absolutely delicious! Service was a bit slow, but the waiters were super nice and welcoming. Definitely would come back if I'm ever in Provo again!

My close friends brought me here because of the reviews and food. However, the food was disappointing all the way. Too much basil on everything. It was overrated and all tasted the same. On top of the experience, I wore my 40-year-old vintage custom-made suede jacket. I placed the coat on the chair next to me and draped it over the chair in plain site. The waiter was very good, but he came over to check on our food and happened to lean on the chair gripping my coat. His hands were very wet and I mentioned to him he was touching my jacket and his hands were wet. He apologized and said it was water. I responded, "No, it's not! It's oil." It was oil and my jacket was stained and turned green. I contacted the restaurant to inform them and they never returned my calls or messages. This is unacceptable.

Me and my mom placed a reservation at 5:00 and we walked in at 4:55 when we walked in all of the waiters just looked at us, didn’t even greet us, after a few minutes our waitress finally walked up to us and asked us how she could help us we told her we had reservation and we were seated. We were the first people in the restaurant and ordered our food before anyone else. We got our food after everyone else that walked in. Once we finally got our food the steak we ordered was burnt, it tasted like we were eating a grill and had no seasoning. Everything else we ordered was great and our waitress took the steak off of our order she was amazing.

Wife, son & I had a wonderful Friday dinner at Communal. We didn’t have reservations, but one of the very friendly managers seated us at the bar top & said it was his favorite place. We loved it! Watching & chatting with the patient master chef as he expertly prepared several amazing dishes was great fun & very educational. Wife had the Tamarin Glazed Chicken but could not stop raving about the Roasted Carrots. Son devoured the delicious Watermelon starter & the formidable Pork Chop Schnitzel. I savored a trout special called Pescado Veracruz with very tasty Fried Garlic Rice. The Halibut also looked great. We were all too full, but the dessert menu looked fabulous. Great atmosphere & interesting art & decor. By no means inexpensive, but worth every penny.
Vegetarian options: Ample vegetarian & pescatarian options. Fresh ingredients & interesting preparation.
Parking: Plenty of nearby street parking plus an off-street lot very close by.

Loved sitting at the bar watching the chefs grill and plate. Was too eager to eat to take pics but everything was so tasty and aesthetically pleasing. I really appreciated the beautiful use of herbs and garnishes as well as the plating (ie chili threads and fennel threads). My fav dish was the pork belly appetizer (melt in your mouth and charred with the vinegar/pickled topping) and the cornnn (miso butter and togarashi seasoning). Our server made my spicy skinny marg perfectly- with a salt rim and sliced Serranos :)

I’m deeply disappointed with my recent visit to this restaurant. The quality of the food has significantly declined. The chicken was underwhelming, as if it was just raw meat with a sprinkle of seasoning—brining could have made a world of difference. The pasta was clearly not fresh, and the ‘funeral’ potatoes were a complete letdown. They need to go find a local grandma who knows how to make them properly, full of flavor and comfort. Without the sauce, they were flavorless and dull. The mashed potatoes were even worse, lacking the creamy texture and taste you’d expect. For an $80 meal, I expected much more passion, care, and respect for the craft. Where’s the love for good food? The fact that the restaurant was nearly empty on a Wednesday night speaks volumes about the current state of this place. Sadly, it seems to have lost its former charm. The worst part? Forcing ourselves to finish it, just to avoid wasting food and to get our calories in. Where’s the passion? Where’s the respect?

After 3-4 disappointing experiences, I think I’m done giving communal another chance. For the prices their food should be consistently excellent. This time I ordered the house pasta, which for $30 was a very tiny portion, but it was pretty good. And I ordered the basque cheesecake, which was severely burned over the entire top. I know that basque cheesecake is supposed to be toasted on top. But this was black and burned about 1/4 inch down (see photos to compare to an actual basque cheesecake). Even when I scraped off the burned layer, the rest of the cake was so over baked it was rubbery and not enjoyable. I didn’t eat it. I called to ask for a refund and they repeatedly told me that’s exactly how it was supposed to be but that they would give me the refund. The tone was annoyed and condescending, not at all willing to admit that they’d burned the cake and talking to me like I’m just too ignorant to know if what I’m eating is good or not. I am sure basque cheesecake is delicious when done correctly. This was not. My experience has been similar about 50% of the time I’ve eaten here. The kinds of mistakes you just shouldn’t have to put up with when you’re paying this much (over baked, under cooked, arriving cold at the table, too salty, etc.). The menu is ambitious but the execution is just so often not there. I guess I keep trying because there are not that many menus like this in Utah County. But I’m tired of paying this much and not getting a fine dining experience.

From the phone call to check on availability to the payment of the bill, everything at communal was top-notch! Everything we ate was prepared with thought and care and the staff was knowledgeable and accommodating to dietary restrictions. If it's still there when you go, try the corn with the miso butter and the pot de creme for dessert! Will definitely be back.
Dietary restrictions: I have a gluten allergy and felt safe and well accommodated here. There were only a few items that they couldn't adjust to be gf but I was not lacking for choices.
