Communal has long been one of my wife and I's favorite spots. We recently tested out the new menu and were absolutely blown away!
We got:
Funeral Potato Croquette
Snap Peas
Wagyu Filet
Quinoa Risotto
Everything was spectacular! I think the quinoa stole the show though, it was addictive. All of the new offerings are well up to the standard we've come to expect. Service is always top tier as well. Can't wait to be back!

The fried chicken with mashed potatoes brought plenty of comfort, though the seasoning leaned a touch heavy. Shared sides like roasted carrots added brightness, and the relaxed, open space made the dinner feel welcoming and easy to enjoy.

I had big expectations for this restaurant and was left a little disappointed. Now I have to say every item including our wine was 5 stars but when it came to the steaks it was disappointing. Now they were cooked to the exact temperature but unfortunately they were cooked on a dirty grill which gave them a burnt taste. Next time I will ask for them to properly scrap the grill in between cookings and maybe oil the grill. I only say these thing as I am 20 + veteran of the fine dining restaurant business and a classically trained chef. So will I go back? Yes but I may not order the steak and for sure will not order the $150 Tomahawk if I dont speak with the chef first. I hope this criticism will be taken positively.

We were very excited to come here to dine. We had gotten our reservation time wrong. I called to let the restaurant know we were on our way. They informed us that there was another party booked. The restaurant suggested we look over the menu and order asap when we arrived. The waiter was not very friendly. More of a passive aggressive attitude. He brought over a dessert menu letting us know we had about 20/25 mins left at our table. There was another party coming in. We looked around the dining room and noticed other tables leaving and 2 more empty 4 top tables. We are not sure why they were rushing us when it was obvious that there were open tables for the guests arriving. I feel the hostess and in house staff could’ve been less pushy and could’ve avoided rushing us. After we left we walked around the area and came back to our cars parked in front of the restaurant and guess what??? There were several empty tables that no one was sitting or had reservations. I feel the restaurant did a poor job on customer service. The food was fantastic. Restaurant staff I would rethink how you approach these situations. Never rush the customer if you have ways to juggle your tables.

This is an eclectic place for brunch in Provo. Portions are little larger but it was perfect for hungry half marathon runner. I had their French toast. It was awesome. I ordered their home made ginger ale but the waiter bright virgin mojito which is good but once he realized before I did, he quickly brought ale. In my opinion. Virgin mojito is much better.
Great food and great atmosphere. The dinner is fairly pricey but it’s meant to be shared. If you’re looking for something a bit different and more special, this is a good place.
If you live in Utah Valley and haven’t been to Communal in Provo, fix that. This place is a gem. The food hits that sweet spot between creative and comforting, and everything feels fresh, seasonal, and made with intention.
The pork chop and tenderloin is one of my favorites, and the surf & turf frites is worth the splurge. Sides like the carrot hummus and saffron pilaf are legit, and the butterscotch pudding is a must-order.
It’s the kind of spot you bring friends to when you want to show off how good the food scene here can be. Love this place!
This is the first time I’ve been here before and I did take out when I got home i’ve got the steak with fries. The steak was good but have really hard parts in it I could not even chew through and I got maybe like 10 fries I paid 60 pretty much just for the steak.Love the sauce on it though. The waitress who helped me with super kind and understanding let me ask questions and let me try the sauce for the steak loved her. Atmosphere seem more like a relaxing atmosphere someone or families that wanna just relax in a quieter place little Mom and pop filling shop. But I will say I’m pretty upset that we didn’t get very many fries and spent a lot of money on it. The picture is half of the fries that we got the other half my boyfriend took, but he got about the same amount or a couple less:(
For the price point, I would hope they could avoid serving burnt pork chops/loin I am talking legit charred top to bottom I was so hungry I didn’t think to send it back. Other than that everything was great. Beet salad was really good, potato’s were good. The ambience is quite loud for the price point, and no privacy whatsoever. Feels a bit like a cafeteria.
Brunch is also very good.
