We order at least 2 to 3 times a month and spend minimum of $100 to 160.00 with tips. If I spend that much you should get my order correct. Extra wasabi extra ginger and there have been more than 4 times that the tempera sauce or tempera veggies have not been included. We always say even if we have to pay for extra wasabi, ginger and soy but you happy sumo seems to forget this 9 times out of 10. Disappointed to say the least

The sushi is really good but super expensive. $10-20 for about 6-8 pieces.
I ordered a chicken bento box. ($15). It was not great. Chicken was dry.

Great service and my husband LOVED his rolls. The tempura veggies were really good! Only a few vegetarian options, which was disappointing for me, but the one I got was delicious!

The food was amazing. But the service sucked. I’ve been here several times before hoping I’d get a different server but I have yet to. We get the food after waiting a super long time and then the server disappears. It’s impossible to get a refill and I can never proper help with anything here.

Been eating here since the most expensive rolls were 12.95. So 10 plus years. After my last two experiences here I don’t think I’ll be back. The fish here has been old and mushy the last two times. This time it was unbearable. $16.95 for a single roll with old, mushy, fall apart spongy, oxidized, breaking down tuna is unacceptable. I expect that at all you can eat places that are $17.95 for all you can eat, but not a high end, high priced sushi place. I will look elsewhere for quality sushi. My sumo days have sadly come to an end. Fresh sushi is brightly colored, shiny and chewable.

I got the Baked Lobster Roll and Firecracker Roll. I loved the Firecracker one, but didn't love the Lobster one, which surprised me, since I love lobster. They seemed a bit understaffed today; it took awhile to seat our group, despite having a reservation, and took awhile to take our orders as well. Overall, though, I would come back here again.

There was an issue with the system that made it so my order didn't populate until I was in the store. I went back to work nearby while the staff was fixing it. There was an issue with my phone number too and the hostess literally RAN half a block to get my contact info before I drove away. I didn't catch her name, but that alone is worth a 10 out of 10.

Ordered from DoorDash thinking it’d be nice to have sushi on a Friday night so why not try Happy Sumo? Only three out of the four rolls were edible, the Apex roll was a complete disaster. I’ve never spit out a roll until now, it was slimy and didn’t seem fresh at all. The playboy and sunset rolls were ok at best and the rockstar was just meh but at least it was fresh. Definitely not worth $75, and ABSOLUTELY not worth $93 for takeout. Each roll should’ve been valued at $9 tops. Pretty disappointed, definitely not eating here again.

Very good sushi here. They also have other plates of Japanese inspired cuisine. They are always friendly and quick with service, and the restaurant always feels very clean. Highly recommend if you’re in the area.

Our first time back in about 7 years, and it's still a great place. The entrees are great, the atmosphere was what we had remembered, and the service was great. It was fun to see the new seasonal rolls, and we tried a few - Cheesesteak, the Coco loco, and the Dreamcake. The Coco loco was fantastic. The Dreamcake was interesting and actually very good. The cheesesteak had echoes of a cheesesteak, but left a little to be desired - I was expecting a meltier cheese. Folks from Philly will tell you a cheesesteak should have cheese whiz (which has no place anywhere near a sushi roll).
I was glad to see Happy Sumo keeping its place among the Utah sushi restaurants.
Dietary restrictions: We called to make sure they could still handle peanut allergies like they did 7 years ago, and they still do. I was told the only thing they have with peanuts is a Thai peanut sauce, which is generally kept away from all the other food until is needed. Our server also informed the kitchen of the allergy so the entrees could be prepared separately. I was also told there are no nuts in the sushi preparation area.
