The service and ambiance are still good but the sushi has really gone downhill. The sunomono roll used to be beautifully crafted in a spiral but is now just chunks of fish with a cucumber around the outside. The sashimi is now cold cubes (!) of fish that don't taste quite right. The portions of tuna were generous, which would be great if it actually tasted like tuna--it barely tasted of anything at all. The salmon was also a very generous portion which would be great except it tasted unpleasantly fishy. The green horseradish paste also seemed a bit off in concentration. This place used to impress our Japanese guests; if I'd had one this time I would have had to apologize. I'm not sure what's gone wrong with their fish supply, but both the taste and craftsmanship seem to have taken a real nosedive. It's sad, but we will have to find somewhere else for sushi now.

Happy Sumo Used to be great! We were not happy with the quality of sushi this last visit. We love sushi, and have been to many sushi restaurants and I really don't have much else to say! We will definitely not be back.

My husband and I visited this weekend while we were down in Provo. This was our first time visiting. We really enjoyed to food we ordered, but the service was rushed and it was a long wait.We ordered the Calamari as an appetizer. The Calamari was alright, and we ordered 5 sushi rolls. All which were delicious! We ordered the Rock Shrimp, BSCR, Big Sumo, and the Baked Lobster roll. My husband’s favorite was the Rock Shrimp and mine was the BSCR. We look forward to trying it again soon!

Happy Sumo has my whole heart!!! We always get quick and kind service from any server. Plus the food—sushi or typical entree—is delicious every single time!
Great, as always. We have been coming here for years. Sushi is fresh, Lettuce wraps yum, all the food we get is so good. My favorite place to eat in Utah.

One of my favorite places! The food always comes out quick & fresh, the service is always 10/10 from every waiter/waitress I have ever had, and the atmosphere is always warm and welcoming. Even on a busy night, the work quickly to get you in and still provide you with the best service and food.
Some the best sushi I have had in a very long time I would highly recommend the sunset roll

Great experience. Staff was very friendly. Amber went out of her way to make sure we were taken care of. SO much flavor in the sushi. Probably the best in the valley. Amen.

The sushi wasn’t that great, specifically the rolls. Sashimi was ok, disappointed by the salmon and tuna, and the escolar which is my favorite was stringy for some reason. Hopefully the waitress has a better night as well.

So sad use to love this place. But this is the last time we will come. Food was barely warm, the rice was not not cooked. I mean how hard is it to get the rice right. The tempura vegetable's where onion and carrots thats it, soggy and almost warm. When we told the waitress she said she would get the manager but never came back, saw her in the corner hiding till we left. Save yourself and go someplace else the Happy Sumo is now the Sad Sumo. Place is also kind of dirty, floors looked like they had not been sweep in days.
