Went to lunch with a friend. Haven't eaten here since they were in the old hotel off University Ave. The parking was hard, since it off Center Street. The service was fast, ordered our food, got our appetizer and drinks. Then our food came out. I forgot how much food they give you. I couldnt finish half of my food. I like how the restaurant has a small bottle of salsa in a bottle placed at the table, so when your little bowl runs out, you refill it yourself.

Joe Vera’s has a great private dining room for private groups. We reserved it for a birthday and it was a great choice. Their server was great, efficient and friendly. The entree portions were very large and the food was delicious. The chips were crispy and the salsa was flavorful with just the right amount of spice. The background music was a little loud for the conversation but overall the atmosphere was fun and casual. Would definitely go back.

On Oct 20 dinner was great until night hit and for the following 3 days all four in our party who each ordered separate things had horrible food poisoning, one year prior two of us did as well so we can confirm that sadly there appears to be a consistent gross mishandling of food.

Felt sick after. Flickering light in the room was annoying.

Service was good, maybe I just ordered the wrong thing.

Really like the warm chips and perfect salsa. I had soup. It was super tasty & creamy, others at the table had huge burritos. Great place!

Horrible. My roommates and I all got way sick from the food. We all had forceful GI issues the next day. I get it if one person gets sick, but for all of us to get hit…unacceptable. Cross contamination in the kitchen for sure. This should be recorded in Upton Sinclair’s “The Jungle.”

In response to your comment, thanks for the update, however, I feel that I deserve either a refund for the horror of what took place, or at the very least, a free dinner—this will really prove whether or not you have decided to elevate your professionalism and cleanliness in the kitchen. Please let me know.

It was a long day. But this visit, was so bad! The service was so bad. She kept coming out, asking what type of meat and sauce. Not only that, but we waited and hour and half for our food. Chips and salsa was old and tasted spoiled. But when we got our food. The food tasted from a can! It was the worst! We didn’t eat due to fear of getting food poisoning.

Last night my buddies and I went here for Mexican food. We all ordered different things, but somehow ended up with horrible stomach pain and a full day of explosive diarrhea.

Our waiter was pretty lost the whole time and had to be reminded to do things, so the service wasn’t great either.

Each meal was about $25, which feels crazy considering we basically paid for food poisoning.

Looking at other reviews, it seems like we’re not the only ones. One group said 5 out of 8 people got explosive diarrhea too and the restaurant’s response was “we can asure you that all of our food is well prepared with dates and temperatures, Perhaps it was something else”.

Yeah nice try Diddy, I think we know the culprit.

Food is ok. Salsa is really good and plenty of it. Service was awful. Took forever for the waitress to come care for us. Food came out fairly quickly and was ok. Nothing special.
Waitress never came by again until she brought our check. Tried to get her to refill my drink but couldn’t get her attention. When I pointed this out she argued that she brought me a drink and I drank it already. $4 coke with no service. Gratuity was added in. Not an option to only tip for the poor service we received.

New favorite find! I’m new to the area and stumbled on this little Mexican spot and wow, it did not disappoint.
• The fish tacos were crispy + fresh (their tortillas are perfection).
• The salsa bar is 🔥 so many good choices.
• The fresca of the day was beyond refreshing.
• And they’ve got great outdoor seating for soaking it all in.

Best part? The owner, Joe, was super kind and friendly; you can tell he really cares about the place. 💛

If you’re craving good Mexican food, this is worth the drive.

It was good, but I think the cost is a bit much for the value of the entrees.
