This is a great study spot! They place really nice instrumental music and it’s nice and quiet - good for focusing. I got a hot chocolate to sip on while I worked and it was delicious! A great way to get off campus and get some work done.

Tea and chocolate shop. But the real winner is the cake of the day. This time chocolate with marshmallow. $6 for a piece of cake! Seemed crazy cheap. Great setting but not great parking, has to be nearby or on the street.

We went for the Cheese and Chocolate Fondue. We went with our two kids. I DO NOT RECOMMEND BRINGING KIDS. We waited for 35 mins for the cheese fondue. And then we waited for another 35 mins for the chocolate fondue. The waiters mostly ignored us till the very end and brought us two chocolate bars to make up for our waiting time which was a kind gesture. My toddler is very patient and he still had a hard time. But the fondue itself was good. No complaints about the food.

Don't bring kids. They'll go mad with the wait.

Not enough cheese fondue, plenty of chocolate.

Hubby and I made reservations couple days before to arrive at 7 four fondue cheese/chocolate. It took them over an hour to serve both items. We didn't end up leaving till 930. Husband wanted to leave before we go the chocolate but they make you pay before you dine so didn't want to not get what I paid for. Chocolate and cheese was tasteless we ended up eating almost everything on our plate without dipping it..... will not be coming back

I really loved the interior of this place but was pretty disappointed at the subpar service. Once we were seated, it took 17 minutes fo even bring us water or to take our drink orders, nearly 40 until we even saw the tea tray, and the tickets only covered one drink (I've been to other tasting rooms that let you try multiple teas within the allotted time). I also flagged an allergy and I think there was a pastry that had this specific allergen in it because when I got home I was itchy all over / had hives on my neck. I don't think my allergen flag was really listened to or there was an ingredient that went unnoticed. It only occurred after I ate some of the pastries and I hadn't eaten anything else that day whatsoever.

I was very disappointed with my high tea experience. I’ve been to high tea services and they always have a menu of teas and use tea cups and tea pots. That’s just what high tea is. But Taste did not advertise that it would not be like that. The menu had a few tea options and then sodas, and they used ikea mugs to serve it in. The food was great but this is not high tea.

Had afternoon tea at Taste 117 yesterday. It was ok. I have a few suggestions if they are interested…
1. Savories were good, especially the cucumber mint sandwich. Bread was moist and delicious. Great effort on the choux bread savory. That was very good, as well. The turkey foccacia sandwich was hard as a rock, and I didn’t end up eating it because it was ridiculous. The other savory bite was ok.
2. Scones were ok. The mascarpone and jam were good but not enough was given to accompany the scones. There should be two each for two people. Scone flavor was plain, and it would have been better to give two small different flavored scones rather than one big one, and give additional toppings.
3. Desserts were ok. The lemon bar was too big and too tart. The chocolate brownie was good. The strawberry shortcake was really terrible. Very dry, flavorless and the same strawberry jam as the scone. After eating four bready savories and a scone, serving something bready like that for dessert was not a good menu choice. The chocolate puff pastry was my favorite dessert, but having that delicious chocolate ganache in a puff pastry was a bit weird for me. My opinion… would have been better in a chocolate or shortbread shell.
4. For my drink, I chose the iced chocolate, which was truly delicious.
5. The ambiance was ok, except having some music playing in the background would have been nice. It was very sterile in there.
6. Although our server was a nice young man, we waited 35 minutes for our tea tray. Also, we never saw him or anyone else again once we received it. We had prepaid, so we just left on our own realizing no one would be checking us out or asking how our experience was. I think I prepaid my tip, which was a bad idea.

I love the idea of afternoon tea, but for $30 each, I think I would rather just get a nice lunch somewhere else and save afternoon tea for a restaurant that really knows how to do it right, which is very hard to find here.

We love Taste! We've switched our annual tea from the Grand America in SLC to Taste because the standard is so much better. The quality of food and beverages is wonderful and the ambiance reminds me of the movie Chocolat, which is fabulous. Its clean and smells of chocolate, and they always have seasonal flavors. We are BIG fans.
