Craving Japanese, I decided to stop in. When I walked in, I was told you have to order at the kiosk—would’ve been nice if there was a sign posted instead of just being told. The place itself is cute, with a couple of other food spots inside, and it seemed family-friendly.
As for the food: the salmon and shrimp were good, but the beef and chicken weren’t for me. The beef tasted like the thin slices you’d get at a hot pot (which I personally can’t stand). If you like hot pot, you might actually enjoy it—but I didn’t. Overall, the food was just okay, nothing that makes me want to come back.

Super good and unique place. Really great experience and quality ingredients. Fun to see it cook in the cast iron pan.

Come eat here! The ordering takes a minute on the screens. But the food is out fast—hot and delicious.

Pepper Lunch was on my list of restaurants to try during a trip to Tokyo this past April, but I unfortunately wasn’t able to. Imagine my surprise when I found out that one had opened right here in Riverton!
The food is absolutely fantastic, and appears very fresh. It’s served sizzling hot right on your own personal heated platter, guaranteeing your meal won’t go cold. I ordered a Jumbo Beef with a fountain drink, and paid around $22. For the quality, taste, and freshness of the food, I thought this was an exceptional value.
Don’t forget to ask for a loyalty punch card! For every 8 meals purchased (technically 7, since one spot is already pre-filled) you’ll get a free meal.
Pepper Lunch absolutely lived up to the hype from when I was researching my original Japan trip, and I’ll be frequently coming back. Please open up some more Utah locations!

It’s such a bummer to try and have a nice Sunday date night so you rush off for an early dinner because of the 6pm closing time. Just to show up at 5:40 and see two tables full no less than a dozen total people eating to be told it was slow so they’re closing early. Consistency is key for a business. When this place inevitably closes like the rest of the restaurants who’ve tried existing here this will be a reminder. Really sad because pepper steak is actually really great just maybe not in Utah.

Food was good and came out fast and hot. Service was great. Food court is a little sad as many businesses are closed and that makes the atmosphere a little less than.
