DO NOT ORDER THE ETOUFFE. IM SICK TO MY STOMACH AND THEY DO NOT TRY TO HELP WHEN FOOD TASTES BAD. When we have gone here before food was not bad. I wanted to try something else and got the etouffe. Big mistake. I only took three bites and I'm sick to my stomach!
Well maintained property in a convenient location. Food was great, service was outstanding. Highly recommend this restaurant. Be prepared as they are usually busy.
Old and nasty crawfish. As a person who knows what crawfish and seafood should be, this aint it. The crawfish and fried oysters were old and not good at all. All the crawfish are pre-cooked and just steamed with seasoning. This makes them very squishy and just nasty. The oysters smelled and tasted old. Do yourself a favor and try some place else unless you have no idea what seafood is supposed to be, then maybe you would like this mess.
Been here a ew times and the food is always good and hte staff very friendly and helpful. The Po Boy's are great but really like the Shrimp Sausage Etoufee is fantastic
usually a great restaurant, the hook & reel in layton couldn’t have been more disappointing! the food is always good but the wait staff was flat out incompetent! could not get our order right & then would not correct their mistake! instead they constantly tried to push the desserts on us. i’ve spent my last dollar @ the hook & reel!
Very friendly staff, and the food was excellent. I had the catfish basket and it was way more food than I could eat. My waitress was very professional and attentive to make sure that everything was just right. If you are traveling to Salt Lake City, and enjoy seafood. This is your place!
Our first time to a Hook & Reel and we had a hard time deciding what to order. The Crab Meat Fries were a great choice, but next time I would request to have the Cajun spices on the side. The strong spices overwhelmed the subtle crab flavors. The Lobster Bisque had a complex flavor which would have been fantastic if it had actual chunks of lobster in it. But then the price would not be nearly as reasonable. The large shrimp on the Shrimp Basket were cooked perfectly, as were the crunchy French Fries. Our order was to-go, and the gentleman who waited on us was careful to pack us everything we needed to enjoy our outdoors picnic. Great service and we really enjoyed our meal!
Everything was delicious! You need to have the crab meat fries. Every dish was amazing and the staff was SO friendly. We will come back, OFTEN
My server was friendly, but the food was barely edible. I'm a fan of seafood and this may be the worst I ever had. I don't like to be negative but the only thing I enjoyed about the meal was my beer.

We went here to celebrate a birthday and anniversary. The food was excellent. The service was good. I will definitely return (but probably just when we are celebrating something).
Holy guacamole!! First time and I will be raving about this food for a long time to come. I don't write reviews, but I just had to about this one. You're a fool if you don't give this one a try! Just wow!!
I took some clients here for dinner (first visit for all of us). Very tasty, very enjoyable, excellent service. (The special priced drinks were appreciated.)
HORRIBLE Save your money Small portions you have to peel your own shrimp extra charge for every thing. No silver ware offered unless you request it. GO TO OLIVE GARDEN
I wasn't quite sure what to expect from Hook and Reel, but I enjoyed myself nonetheless. The restaurant's specialty is Cajun seafood - clams, shrimp, crab, mudbugs, etc. You pick your catch, pick your sauce, and pick your spice level - then they do the rest. There are a lot of options to choose from - I had a create-your-own combo with clams and snow crab with the garlic butter sauce. It was quite tasty. It's brought to you, surprisingly quickly, by your server in a large, inflated plastic bag. You dump the contents onto a metal platter and have at it. Tip: ask your server to dump the bag for you to minimize the risk of wearing your meal. After bathing in my dinner, a moist towelette and a trip to the restroom were sufficient to get cleaned up. BTW, the sinks are outside the restrooms, which is quite helpful.
