I visited "Waffled" in Walmart for a quick snack; I had street tacos, waffle fries and a fountain drink. One taco was carnitas, the other was their "sticky fingers." Here are my opinions:
- The Service: the Lady behind the counter was all alone. She had a takeout order in the works when I stepped up to place my dine-in order. She was a bit slow to get make my food, but I understand why and don't begrudge her. She was smiling and pleasant, very polite and accommodating. AND all of my food was obviously prepared fresh. I could tell by the taste.
- The Carnitas: the pork was a little plain. I was looking for a bit more savory, with a touch of crunch from frying. Those weren't there. The shredded pork wasn't bad, it just wasn't all I want from carnitas.
- The "Sticky Finger" taco: an interesting addition to the menu. Chicken breast, cut into strips. Lightly breaded and fried, then tossed with a sweet chili sauce. It was like sweet & sour with a bit of heat. On the menu, these fingers are featured in larger items like burritos, enchiladas and large tacos. I asked for a street sized taco. That single strip was perfectly fried, lightly crispy and fit perfectly. I added a few slices of pickled jalapeño to balance the sweet of the chili sauce and really enjoyed it. However . . . an Asian inspired flavor in a Latin themed restaurant was unexpected. I have a suggestion:
Instead of sweet chili sauce try mixing these:
- Sugar Cane vinegar or Latin fruit vinegar as you choose with agave syrup to get the sweet & sour mix.
- Season it with chili powder, a touch of cinnamon, cumin powder, garlic powder and onion powder. Or come up with some other mix you like. Whatever you choose, give your sweet & sour taste profile a South-of-the-Border flair.
- The Salsa Roja: it was a bit thin and watery. The flavor wasn't bad, but could stand to be more concentrated.
- The Salsa Verde: Not much heat but EXCELLENT flavor! The natural tartness of the tomatillos was nicely muted but still there. I'm no gourmet chef with a five-star palate, but I enjoyed that salsa. In fact, after I tasted it plain, I mixed in some of their DELICIOUS house-made ranch dressing. That was a GREAT mix for dipping waffle fries! Speaking of . . .
- The Waffle Fries: crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside and lightly salted. My little portion was made fresh for me, I could tell. Also, it was fairly generous for a "small" order.
- The beverages: there was a cooler with bottled Jarritos drinks. However, their fountain had four different Jarritos and some Pepsi products. Jarritos on tap was NICE!
Waffled in Walmart Super Center Syracuse is a definite step up from the McD's I so often see. They could use a tweak or two, but overall, my little snack was GREAT! I just with they would post signage with their hours. I have tried several times to get in there, wanting to try their food. I think the fact that today is Monday is the only reason why I got lucky enough to catch them open. I'm looking forward to my next stroke of good luck. I want to try something more ambitious than two little tacos and waffle fries.
Parking: They're in a Walmart supercenter. The is PLENTY of parking.
Kid-friendliness: Fun, brightly colored decor.
Wheelchair accessibility: The entrance is wide enough for mobile chair patrons and there is seating that will accommodate them.

This place is terrible. The two people working didn't speak English. No problem I'm half and half we can figure that out. But the food was so bad. How can you not speak English and make good that taste like An 80 year old woman with a heart condition and Alzheimer's made. This stuff is coming straight it the freezer with not even added salt. 0/10 do not recommend. Was bamboozled by a taco shop next to the movies. I thought it was Fate little did I know it was a trap.

Service was as expected for a fast food joint. Food was decent. We got quesadilla, quesaberria, chimichonga, a waffle, and asda taco. The waffle was on the smaller side but it was delicious according to my daughter.
