I really enjoyed this place for the most part. We got seated right away. You get complimentary chips and salsa. The salsa was a tad too spicy dang it. We ordered combination plates which came with a lot. Very filling. The only thing I didn’t care for was the cheese enchilada with mole sauce. I didn’t care for the mole sauce. Next time I’ll get regular enchilada sauce on it.
I asked for street tacos with each kind of meat to try them all. They said they could only do one meat choice. I chose carnitas. The meat was dry and chewy. Wonder why they couldn’t do more meats since they aren’t made to order and obviously sit in a heated tub all day getting dry. Iced tea didn’t have much ice. Service was mediocre. Thoughts around the table were that the food was bland. Not worth the price. I’d avoid.
We love it here!! The food is delicious, and has a great homemade feel! The service is top notch and the Owner, I didn’t get her name, maybe Maria? Lol she is the sweetest most awesome Host! She came to our table to chat and told us the food was made with all her heart and love, and you can definitely taste the love! Can’t wait to come back during karaoke night! New fave place!
I can’t even tell you how amazing this place is. These days I feel it’s very few and far between to find great quality and friendly service. This place embodies all of these things. The food is also very delicious. I will definitely be coming back to be around the friendly accommodating team. They made the experience of going out to eat fun again. Thank you for being awesome! You guys are awesome! ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
I just tried Maria’s for the first time in hopes it was the same as the one in Millcreek and was very disappointed. I ordered the Chili Relleno Platter and it was one pepper with no breading and no cheese inside. The salsa was was not good either. I love Mexican food and was excited to have another option near me but I can honestly say I will not be ordering from this location again.
Fried ice cream? This is the saddest version I’ve seen.. I am glad this was our tester for your restaurant.. sadly it will be out last visit. The person who took the call also doesn’t understand when someone asks how it’s prepared.. the lady told me that she orders it on the tablet and the chefs make it… *face palm*
Finally got to eat at Maria's Mexican restaurant. The food was hot and fresh. We didn't wait too long for our order, the service was great. As a Utah resident, I'm happy to support a small business over some corporate chain of restaurants, it's great to see authentic and fresh Mexican food in the Taylorsville area. With prices soaring everywhere, the prices are fair for the delicious and authentic cuisine you are getting, after all if you are looking for a family bundle you could always go to McDonald's and get some fast food. Haters will always hate on smaller businesses trying to get started. Be kind everyone, open your taste pallettes, widen your horizons.
I have eaten here several times for dinner since they opened and have had a very positive experience each time. I love the friendly staff and fresh ingredients. It tastes better than 90% of the Mexican restaurants I've been to in the Salt Lake area. I have ordered for pick up and have eaten in the restaurant and each time the food was very fresh and delicious. I never like the rice at Mexican restaurants, but the rice and beans here is my favorite thing! The staff has always been very friendly and pleasant and the restaurant is clean. I hope this restaurant stays open in Taylorsville for a long time to come because it's the freshest sit-down Mexican that I have found in this area. I love it!
Taylorsville-Got street Tacos and the meat was old! Hence the picture of dark oily meat. Waitress (Maria Jr.) had an attitude and rolled her eyes when I asked her for silverware and lime for the only good thing that they had… a bottle of Corona!!!
Horchata was bland, tres leches cake was dry, rice and beans were flavorless. The beans had a weird pasty texture. Only thing that was decent were the tamales, but I’ve had better. Overall very bland food and would not order from here again.

If I could give zero stars I would. Went to try out this new location & was very disappointed. I arrived with my family around 8pm it did take a bit to order & then another 45 minutes to get our food. I found it hilarious that the waitress told us all to be careful because our plates were hot.. because our food was not. In fact all of our food was cold. I asked for our check and let the waitress know the food was bland & cold & not worth it. She didn’t say a word, just asked for my credit card. I would definitely recommend avoiding this restaurant. There are much better Mexican restaurants out there.
I really enjoy going to this restaurant I also enjoy there food. I’m in love with the place and the food it’s very taste I like there service and their team. I like all the plates that they have in the menu. It’s a good restaurant I’m happy for them that they have the support to open a restaurant.
The food here is excellent. The last thing I ordered was a breakfast burrito and a chile rellano. I’m on the road a lot so I got it to go. I don’t know how the at table service is though, since I haven’t started to eat, but Anna is always so kind and accommodating.
Hubby and I came to support a new local restaurant...we were very disappointed!I ordered the chili colorado platter, hubby ordered the mole...I'm thinking they were the same sauce and not a very good one.I'm mexican so I realize all mexican recipes are not the same depending on who's preparing it. The issue is...I have never had a chili colorado that was sweet no matter who's prepared it.When it was placed in front of me I thought the waitress had mistakenly given me the mole my hubby ordered...as the color seemed brown instead of red. The meat was dry and not in chunks but more like shredded (probably due to how dry it was)...plus the sauce was runny. The beans and rice were the only thing I ate but not worth the $12.99 price. My hubby didn't like his mole. I tried it and would of sworn we had the same sauce...with mine being alittle spicier (the chicken in his was also dry). The corn and flour tortillas were edible but lacked seasoning. We won't be going back to see if anything else is better 'cause there are far better mexican restaurants to eat at (that also have alcohol). The service was fine...we didn't have to wait for a long period of time. The atmosphere and decor is authentic which makes me wonder if it's all just for show 'cause the food is definitely not worthy of good mexican food.I can't imagine Maria's will be around very long if they don't realize their food needs serious improvement.
I loved the chips and salsa. We got seated quickly. Only a few other customers but got our food pretty quickly. The bean tostada was kind of bland. And so was the taco. The enchilada sauce was a little watery but no complaints about the shredded beef chimichanga.
