This local place is amazing. Driving through and stopped and I'm so glad we did. Quesa Birria amazing. Chile relleno is FIRE. So many great options for toppings, salsas and drinks. A must stop.

Mini chimis were delicious. Chicken enchilada sauce tasted too much like nutmeg.
One of the best Mexican food places I have ever eaten at.

Wanted to try it, first impressions not great. Definitely won’t go back. The food is some of the lowest quality I’ve ever eaten. It comes out of the kitchen very fast ( red flag; it’s all just reheated old food) and you can taste the meat isn’t fresh and smells bad. The beans are canned refined beans you can buy at the store. Overall the price isn’t worth it if everything is old or canned food.

Good place for a quick meal. It's nothing super special, but I enjoy the unique menu that they provide. There is better Mexican restaurants in town when it comes to flavor. The difference between those businesses and El Sombrero is that the value of the meal is consistent with the price.
The waitresses are very attentive to your table and they make sure that you are taken care of. The food always comes out to the table piping hot and quick.

I love the food here. Great salsa bar and great meat. I drive through between SLC and CO often and always plan a pit stop meal at El Sombrero. Very family friendly and easy going, no frills.
I love their carnitas torta with lots of salsa bar toppings, my son gets the kids quesadilla which is done with Mexican cheese and my husband always gets tacos.

I don't know why there are so many 5 star reviews of this place. We went here because of the good reviews. Absolutely the worst mexican food I have ever had. Ordered a chicken burrito and chicken chimi. There was hardly any chicken in the burrito, all rice and beans. The chicken that was there was very salty. The burrito and chimi came out plain with nothing on top. Dry, salty and not good at all. Expensive also. 14.50 each for a burrito you can get for 8-10 dollars elsewhere and way better tasting.

Don’t know what they do here, but it’s almost like home and the staff is super attentive and sweet. They actually understand that a Chile Relleno is a whole ass pepper. 🤌 there’s even a Chile Relleno x 2 on the menu if you’re trying to stuff yourself stupid.
I’m a Mexican food snob from Texas. Too far north of I-20 it starts tasting like some Sysco mass produced BS you get in a major chain restaurant.

Love the authentic Mexican food here. Try the smothered green chili burrito...you won't be disappointed.

Read the reviews and stopped in. This place did not disappoint! The salsa exceeded my expectations. The chile rellenos was on point. My husband ranted about the barbacoa, it was authentic barbacoa, not the brisket most restaurants serve. The quesabirria wasn’t greasy and so good. I didn’t expect to find such good food in Vernal.

We read the other reviews before we went. Sure enough, the outside might make you drive by. But that is a mistake. It was some of the best salsa I have ever had and that was the beginning of the meal. The burritos, beans, rice, mini chimis, guacamole, were so good. I ate until I could eat no more. It was so good I would happily return.
I forgot to add the Horchata was delicious.
