Wow.. the BLACK forest Haus is amazing German food, in the middle of nowhere on Hwy360 in rural VA! What a nice surprise! Having eaten street food in Haumburg Germany.. and lived in southern TX for 20yrs.. I really love authentic German food.. the little old man who cooks and runs this place (cooks, seats and serves) runs a tight ship.. the food is tasty and the prices are super reasonable. Their most popular sandwich is just $4.95!

I, of course, opted for the mega sized Black Forest Platter for $20.. a type of sampler platter of three sausages (one wurst, one "Georgia sausage" and one big 1/4 beef frankfurter, with latka (potato pancake) w/home made apple sauce, home made saur kraut, red cabbage kraut, sour kraut fritters (really good!), his own "bambam sauce".. and it even comes with soup, salad and dessert! PLUS bread and condiments.... Wow.. I had to take home a box full of food.

This little German guys who owns this place looks happy as he zips around his fiefdom slinging food and talking with clusters.. but has to be 75 to 80! I'm hope I'm as with it at his age!

I need to bring my wife here!

Great food at an unbelievable great price! We always enjoyed these folks when they were located in Victoria, VA & had to seek them out here @ their new location. Look forward to returning to get their great breakfast!

Food was bland, service was slow, man seemed like he really didn't want me there. Very warm inside, AC was not cold, place was outdated

The service and food were great. I was a bit concerned when we walked inside. There was 1 German fellow running the whole place. There were 2 other tables of people. I thought...we're going to be here awhile. The elderly gentleman took our order waited on the other people, fixed our food and had it on the table in 10 minutes. He could work circles around most of the young generation today. I was pleasantly surprised. And by the way, the variety of food options and the prices were great.

Dine with caution...Visit for the first time on Sunday. Got food poisoning which made me feel ill for a day and half. Fries wasn't done, tried to say something to 3 employees and sadly non of them understood or didn't care. Fries were obviously frozen, sandwich was all I could eat but regretting it. Never again. Had one tell me they give back to the community but highly doubt it.

Rolf and his lovely wife are so kind, and the food is great. Prices are phenomenal. Hamburger is a solid option for dinner. We got the combo platter and sauerkraut fritters as well which were delicious. He said they may start serving beer later this year, only thing missing but still a great spot.

Delicious breakfast! Eggs were cooked perfectly. Yummy omelet. And delicious sausage and gravy. The staff were warm and gracious. Perfect stop.
