We really enjoyed our meal at Mario’s Italian Restaurant. The atmosphere is comfortable and casual. They have plenty of seating and good distancing between them. The food was clearly made in house and really good. Our server was also excellent, friendly and very attentive.

After my recent phone conversation with them, I was very disappointed. I called to address discrepancies between their online menu and what they actually offer, but instead of a polite and professional response, the owner was incredibly rude and rushed me off the phone. I was simply trying to understand the menu, but the level of disrespect I received was shocking. If this is how they treat potential customers over the phone, I can't imagine the in-person experience being much better. I definitely won’t be dining here and would suggest others be cautious as well.

Ordered carry out from this business on Sunday 4/28/2024. When order was called it, the order taker was ask if linguini could be substituted for spaghetti noodles and explained I had, had throat cancer. Was told yes they could. In confirming the order was right, the substitution request was ask again and advised yes again. When I arrived to pick order up, I ask if they did make the substitution. No no I was told by the owner Mario, we call your wife 3 times and she said she didn’t want linguini she wanted spaghetti. It again was explained my wife would not do that because I had, had cancer and couldn’t eat regular spaghetti noodles. Mario explained no difference in noodles, all have same ingredients just smaller. I again explained wider noodles is easier for me to eat. At that point, I was told that’s between you and your wife. I said I tell ya what, you keep your food and started walking out. I was the yelled at and told you get out and you never come back in here and then threw my debit card at me. No worries, I will never enter that business AGAIN!!

I’m originally from New York and I love a good N.Y. Pizza, which unfortunately I have yet to find good pizza in the Richmond / Midlothian areas. Although, Midlothian had a place called A.N.Y. Slice, which was as close to New York style as you could get but unfortunately it was inconsistent like most of the restaurants in the area. Thank goodness my daughter moved to Amelia and discovered Mario’s. She said I have to try it when I visit so I did ?. The 1st time I ordered pizza to go and the aroma was so good it was difficult to not eat in my car…..to my surprise the pizza tasted like I ordered it in Brooklyn!!! However, the real test is consistency and consistent it has been. I’ve ordered 4 more times (to go) and each time I have been pleasantly surprised. Thank you Mario!

Last Friday we stopped here for lunch. Previously we have had very positive experiences with our lunches and dinners here. However, this time there was a lot of yellow lettuce in my salad and also the pizza was noticeably overcooked making the crust harder than normal. The management was told about the salad at the time I paid at the register. The man who rang up the bill even said that yellow lettuce probably has a bitter taste. At that point there was no offer to discount any of our food - nothing. There seemed to be a severe lack of caring in this situation. This was a very disappointing and unexpected experience.

We made the mistake of coming after church on Sunday! Overall food was good. I got the cheese steak sub and husband got the chicken parm sandwich, both were good.
