Great wines, and atmosphere! I cant wait to go back.
First visit and we will definitely be back. The staff was friendly and helpful, the building and grounds are beautiful, and the wines we sampled (and bought!) were excellent. This winery is not to be missed when you're in the area.
We went in for a tasting and had a wonderful time. We got lucky to have the owner lead us through and that was amazing. He was very knowledgeable and really genuine. He gave great recommendations for local places as well. Loved seeing the family history and the cat Snowflake! Delicious wine, we left with some! We weren't as familiar with the history behind the name and looked it up later. It didn't feel like that history was present in our experience there, but did want to mention it!
I had a wonderful experience at this winery. While I normally prefer to get a flight of wine to taste on my own, their tasting experience was wonderful.
I tried wines I normally wouldn't have expected to. I enjoyed them all.
They were very friendly and brought out the wines to me on the patio because I was visiting with a dog.
The grounds are beautiful and I learned that they grow their own grapes for the wines they offer. The Victorian wine was delicious and refreshing after a long hike.
I highly recommend this vineyard!
Gray Ghost Vineyards is a fantastic family-owned winery that made us feel right at home. Amy, the owners’ daughter, guided us through our tasting and was absolutely wonderful — friendly, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about sharing their wines. Each sample was delicious, but the Vintage 2021 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon really stood out. The setting is beautiful, and the welcoming atmosphere made for a perfect visit. We’ll definitely be back!⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I've been visiting Grey Ghost for years, ever since they had the small tasting room before their expansion in 2006 (I think...) The wines are good to great and the prices are excellent compared to other VA wineries that have raised their prices considerably since coming out of the pandemic. I took the tour with a VA Winery Facebook group last year hosted by the owner and it was informative and very entertaining. They still offer tastings at the counter, too! (Or flights if you prefer that). They are very close to the main highway which has its pros (easy access) and cons (highway noise if you sit outside) but I was there in the winter and the highway noise was not an issue. Very comfortable upstairs area for 21 and up. This classic Virginia winery is not as uptight as a few others in the area (I won't name names...) Highly recommended. And a friendly winery cat too...(a black cat named Snowflake).
Hidden gem of a winery. Well worth the drive. Lots of award winning wines, red and white. Staff is friendly, not sales pushy at all. Beautiful grounds. Make sure to visit the upstairs if you don't want to sit outside.
Very lovely. The wine is great and the hostess is very nice and knowledgeable. We sit in the patio sipping a beautiful Chardonnay and Riesling and looking at the vines.
I really loved the sommelier here! She explained the wines very well and was so welcoming, knowledgeable, and kind. They’ve got some really unique wines you e got to try- my favorite of which is the Victorian red.

This place offers around 10 wines for a $5 tasting. About half are whites or reds and a dessert type.
The tasting room is small and will hold about 8 or more at a time per table. The rest is open space or lounging area on the second floor.
Outside there is a pleasant seating area and a large apple tree to relax under. Parking is a gravel lot and very spacious and flat unlike other wineries.
As of 2016 Va Go pass provides free tasting. Though at first they did not seem to understand what my card was for. Recommended double check the site for instructions on using the pass.
AL was an amazing host who did our wine tasting and actually makes the wine! The wines were amazing and finished easy both whites and reds. AL really makes you feel at home and explains everything you would want to know about the wines and the process. Amazing service. Bravo!
Both reds and whites are great. Family run estate winery.
Do NOT miss this incredible family owned winery. They have a great variety of delicious wines. Weekends they have fun opportunities with food and music. The atmosphere and hospitality are top notch!
Wonderful winery! The setting is great, and the hospitality is first rate. Amy is outstanding at providing the history of the vineyard and explaining the wines we sampled. We shared some additional conversations on a personal nature. Very welcoming! We will be back very soon?
