My husband and I stopped in for brunch/lunch on a Saturday, we we so glad we did! The ambiance was peaceful. Our server was courteous and helpful, I apologize for not remembering her name. I ordered the Quiche with broccoli and heirloom tomato and salad with lemon dressing. Husband had the Conductor's plate. Our food was very good, we hope to return one evening for dinner!

Inside they could use some music and candles on the tables. But clean with wonderful linens.

The new “Market” coffee shop at the Henry Clay Inn is a very welcome addition to downtown Ashland. Great muffins, etc and in house pastry chef, very comfortable, spacious, and warm inside space, beautiful giant old front porch, and Ashland barista veteran Bart dishing up delicious coffee drinks from early morning until 2pm every day.

What a wonderful experience we had, from the hospitality to the food. Sherry and Peter (hope I got the names right) were so accommodating as our arrival time charged a couple of times. And the food. Delicious. Our meals were the pork chop, sweet potato puree and broccoli snd the roasted chicken with a special mashed potato and broccoli. Very difficult to choose from all the delicious looking on site made desserts. We got a croissant bread pudding. My. My. My. Yum.

Invited to a Birthday party with 30 people expecting problems since so large not seeing alot of staff like other restaurants but 2 gentlemen worked together so in tune with each other. Their hospitality professionalism, and promptness waiting on each and every individual person with drinks, refills and excellent food was amazing ! I can't get over the quick service yet would take time to give service with a smile and when our waiter was spoken to by our elder people just to chat , he took quick time to make a comment back to us that would make us all laugh resuming his duties non stop at the same time.
I don't take time to write reviews but definitely taking the time now because staff is so well deserved of over 10 stars , food was delivered and served at the same time hot and delicious ,not 1 person had to wait for him to get a refill or another drink or anything else because his focus was all of us.

We spent 4 nights at the Henry Clay Inn. Upon arriving on our first night (7:30 p.m.), the lobby was very dark with no one in site. There was no occupied check-in counter. After several "hellos" , we were greeted by William who was expecting us. He showed us to our room and answered some of our questions... very nice.
Our room (2 double beds) was on the small side (no dressers, small vanity, not enough towel bars), but I guess it was to be expected for an historic inn. It was clean and the beds were very comfortable. The train noise was not a problem at all... kinda cool.
There are no coffee makers in the rooms but they have two Keurig stations, one right outside our room. Again, the lighting is minimal so kinda spooky and hard to read the coffee pods. After using the coffee bar, we asked an employee to refill several items and left for the day. Nothing was refilled. We went to the kitchen pantry and refilled some items ourselves. On another evening, items had been refilled but the water level was low, so we ended up refilling the reservoir ourselves.
Our main disappointments were the poor lighting and the Keurig stations not being monitored.

My husband I found this inn just by search and are so grateful. We agree our excellent server Richard that this is a hidden gem in Ashland. We moved to the area from NOVA a year ago and are still in search of our new favorite restaurant. All the dishes were so pretty and delicious, the ambience was classy, the service was definitely the first class. We are so happy we found this place!

Dined here on a week night and the food was great but our server, Richard, really made our experience special. The location was cute and everything we had (caprese for appetizer, salmon and coq au vin for dinner) was delicious. I would definitely recommend and would return.
