I’ve been dining at Trackside for years and have loved it and recommended it. NO MORE. Went there tonight with an out of town friend and was completely embarrassed by the terrible service and bad food. Examples: I was seated at 6:30 and ordered a drink/Cosmo. By 7:00, still no drink. Actually got out of the booth to talk to the waitress who was hanging out in the back of the restaurant with the hostess. She said they didn’t have cranberry juice. Ok. So ordered a martini. 20 minutes later still no drink. Got up and tracked down the waitress again who said she was working on it…though no where near the bar. Food finally came. Ordered a Southwest chicken bowl. Was supposed to have chicken and avocado. 2 pieces of chicken the size of my thumbnail and NO avocado. Basically a bowl of white rice with canned corn and beans and a couple pieces of lettuce on top. Asked waitress for salsa. Never came. We weren’t even done with our bad food and staff was putting up chairs and turning up the lights. It was 8:00. I am not picky and am very understanding but this experience was not within reasonable circumstances and I will not return to Trackside Grill.

I had not been to Trackside Grill for about 2 yearsBack then it was "meh" so wasn't rushing back with the other local options HOWEVER I love the new menu! Chili was superb clearly homemade! My special request for cheese and sour cream and were taken with a smile. Fries were good yet when iI started dunking my fries in the amazing chili, I couldn't help but wonder what some nice gloopy cheese on top would be like?!Although they have a bar, you are not getting typical barfood. My brothers burger was cooked beautifully and just as he asked. Lettuce was crispy and tomato was good.We are picky about our tomatoes in Hanover. My brother thought his wild wild west burger was supposed to jave BBQ sauce yet he enjoyed it without it.The decor has changed into more of an Ashland Centric theme. The enlarged photographs on the walls were beautiful. As an equestrian and prior racehorse owner (the racehorse history is deep here) with Eagle Point and a few other successful racing stables within 5 miles, and the new Secretariat monument coming to the center of town it w ould be nice to see win photos from Colonial Downs from local people.I imagine quite a few will travel here off 95, 1 or 54 to see the monument. Perhaps something secretariat themed would be a nice for tourists to take home. A cup, a ribbon, coin or something. With another locally owned business across the street Changing Reins. People com from near and far (Short Pump, Chesterfield. Montpelier..LOL) so I would not loose the equestrian theme. If only in the foyer restrooms or some history on a page in the menu. If you do a little research about the racing industry in Ashland, Hanover and surrounding areasyou might be very surprised about what you find !Sorry for rambling. Just my thoughts...Parking: Free sp

We were disappointed in our lunch experience. The place has a cool atmosphere and we were very promptly greeted and seated when we arrived. We ordered our drinks and meals (our first choice, which was how we had chosen the restaurant to begin with, wasn't available, but we had a backup). It took a long time for the food to arrive.During that time, our waitress visited once and got drink refills for 2 out of 4 of us. When she returned with those drinks, she dropped them and left before the other 2 of us could request refills. When the food finally arrived, the burger, which was ordered well, was bleeding onto the plate, and the flavor described as tasteless, and lower quality than a fast food burger. The tomatoes in the Greek chicken bowl were turned and most significantly, there was ZERO chicken! The shrimp bowl was tasteless other than the shrimp themselves. It contained probably two cups of unseasoned white rice, and a tablespoon each of unseasoned corn and black beans, two thin slices of avocado, and a heaping pile of canned (not at all fresh) mild picante sauce. The last in our party got the turkey Ruben. She made no comment on her meal, as we were treating her for her birthday, I suspect she was being polite because she did compliment her French fries. We had no opportunity to ask for adjustments to our meals, nor refills for the other 2 in our group, as our waitress never once returned to check on us.I'll give her the benefit that with only two waiters, they may have been understaffed, but we definitely had the impression we weren't important.I think there's great potential here, but someone needs to buy spices for the kitchen and either add more waitstaff or encourage the waitress to be more interactive with guests. Perhaps move the FANTASTIC busser up to waiter. He was outgoing, friendly, and welcoming.I'd not recommend this place to friends, nor would I go back for a second visit. It just missed the mark.

Celebrated my son's 50th birthday party here. We drove an hour to get there and it was worth it.

Cute place, but the service and my dinner choices were disappointing. The staff seemed to be overwhelmed even though it’s not a big place. The chili was good but the fried oysters tasted “off” and fries were lukewarm and bland.

well, I've tried Trackside 3 times since the redo and have been underwhelmed each time. I am vegetarian and the ONLY things on the menu I can order are a salad (requesting no chicken or shrimp), a bean quesadilla and a southwestern wrap. that's it.Yesterday tried again and after 15 minutes of waiting after being seated with no one approaching to take drink orders, we left. It was obvious we weren't going to get food any time soon as there were multiple other tables just..waiting...Sad because they used to go there weekly, and have an awesome veggie burger, bayou pasta etc and now it's no longer a place we need to frequent anymore. :(Vegetarian options: only 3 things vegetarians can eat on the entire menu! :(

We were there meeting out of town friends for lunch. I doubt we'll return. Poor service complemented poor quality and poorly tasting food. Lots of room for improvement...it was a great place to enjoy a meal, unfortunately no more...

A little slow at the start, but service picked up. Salmon bowl was good, but overcooked, same with fried shrimp. Rest of group had sandwiches and quesadilla. No complaints there. Staff is friendly, about an average meal, but prices were competitive.

We hadn't been since the renovation and were pleasantly surprised upon arrival. We sat at the bar for happy hour. Our bartender was very friendly and welcoming! We ordered dinner and the food was pretty good. We had a burger and a Reuben with fries and tots. My only complaint was that there were only 3 servers including the bartender. By 6:00, they were overwhelmed. Maybe hire a dedicated bartender to avoid slow service.

Used to be our go to restaurant in town, but in the past year in has completely changed. Table was so sticky we wiped it down ourselves w/ our water and napkins. Food took an incredibly long time to come out. I had fries as my side and was given a tiny pile of hard fry bits, like what you find at the bottom of a bag. After asking if this was the normal portion (knowing it’s not because again, we frequent this restaurant often) I was told they were out of fries and my portion was all they had left. It was so loud you could barely talk amongst the table, but that could be fixed with lower music and noise dampening panels. Our server was a very nice and hard working young man, but was not given any support to do his job well. Our entire dining experience was actually so chaotic that we were not charged for the entire meal. We did not request this at all, and it was a very nice thing for them to do. We previously enjoyed this restaurant and would like to see it return to that once amazing state. Will try again in a few months :(

Absolutely the best place to grab a bite to eat and hang out with friends. That Blu cheese burger was probably the best thing I have ever eaten. Definitely recommend and will definitely be back. They have everything from fast greasy burgers, to healthy rice bowls. Stop by if in the area.
