I'm pretty easy going, but this place is lousy. Upon entering, the gentleman behind the counter did not greet us. Keep in mind, this place is tiny and no one else was in the establishment. I looked around and every table was dirty, sticky and hadn't been wiped down. The sauce bottles they provide looked about as nice as the tables. I guess they are a tad bit too lazy.The BBQ sandwich was ice cold. It wasn't the worst sandwich I've had, but definitely below average. The only saving grace was they give you a good amount. The sides were ok, Mac and cheese was good. The potato salad was sub-par. The barbecue beans definitely came out of a can.Save yourself the trip and find bbq elsewhere, this just isn't the place to go. With some good employees that clean and some attention to the food that goes out, it COULD be a solid choice. It's just not happening right now.

Ordered Classic NC sandwich combo. Hush puppies and collards. Service was fast and super friendly. BBQ was very dry, unsure if it was smoked, collards bland, hush puppies were excellent. Not busy when I went so am unsure why this place IMHO had quality issues today. Will try again.

I put this in the same category as Pierce's BBQ in Williamsburg or Doumar's in Norfolk. People that have eaten there for years appreciate it for the nostalgia but its watery finely minced BBQ with limited flavor outside the hot sauce that you can add. Service was good but my overall experience was bland food at a premium price. It does have that classic old school bbq restaurant feel if you visit the store.
Stopped in for lunch. I usually go to Jersey Mikes next door. Today I wanted to try something different. Ordered the Texas Beef BBQ sandwich. It was excellent. Great flavor. I used the Memphis Sweet sauce on the sandwich. Also very good. The combo meal comes with two sides and a drink. I got the coleslaw and potato salad. The coleslaw was great. Next time I will get two sides of the slaw. Quick service and very reasonable price. Can't wait to come back.

I saw a sign that said they won best BBQ in 2019. A lot can happen in a few years. The classic bbq sandwich was average and could’ve been made at home in a crockpot and tasted the same. And if you expect to get more than four bites from your sides you will be disappointed. The serving size for the sides is puny and my green beans were bland. The collard greens had a nice smoky flavor to them but were also in desperate need of some salt. The workers were quiet but kind. Go try it out if you are hungry and in the area!

Nice little restaurant with good food. People are nice and friendly. Place is clean. My food was good. They have good corn muffins. Also potatoes salad was good. My brisket wasn't really good. It was hard to bite and little bit rubbery. Coleslaw was good. Also they have great sandwiches. Good atmosphere inside.
