Absolutely love this restaurant. I eat here whenever I can. The staff is great and Mr. Choi and Sandy are wonderful. Had sushi again tonight I really enjoy the Eel roll and will try different rolls occasionally. I had the Spicy Tuna roll also I believe it was tonight. When I don’t get the sushi I will get the Teriyaki Chicken with salad and miso soup(except right now due to the temperature outside) I have been able to catch Mr. Choi play the piano that is in the dining area a few times.(I was very impressed)

Could not say enough good things about this place. Choy & Sandy are so sweet and their food is AMAZING. I have been looking for a good sushi place for years and finally found the place I'll come back to permanently! 100/10 stars ⭐

Drove an hour and they were closed at lunchtime on a Saturday. Their hours said they were open.

There was hair rolled into the seaweed in one of the sushi pieces. The tomago was frozen, icy and not freshly made. The miso soup was more bland than hot water. (Our waitress explained that the chef said it was because it’s healthy so it’s not as salty. lol.) In short, this is one of the worst meals I’ve had. To top it off, the owner walked up to the cashier register when we got up to pay and asked us “what’s wrong? What’s wrong?” His face was flushed, and his demeanor was incredibly rude and hostile. He asked “where are you guys from?”My friend said that was irrelevant to our issues with the meal. He repeatedly said “I know you guys won’t come back and (mumbled something we couldn’t hear). Felt bad for the waitress. She was apologetic with the whole hair situation, but would’ve liked to seen more ownership coming from the owner of the restaurant. Whom instead couldn’t take criticism and threw a tantrum.

Authentic and high quality sushi. Easily as good or even better than most of the sushi I had when I lived in Nagasaki for a couple years. American-style sushi rolls aren't very common in Japan, but the sashimi and nigiri here at Yokozuna are better than any sushi-go-round conveyor belt restaurant in Fukuoka. The chef chooses seasonal seafood that I couldn't find anywhere else and prepares them correctly: for example, a special type of winter tuna seared on one side, and the octopus was tender instead of rubbery. I recommend trying one of the rice bowls.

More sushi lovers need to come here. They have a lot of very high quality fish for the area (even compared to downtown) including Toro, Uni, Bluefin Tuna. Let's get the word out!! For the rolls, a lot of them look like they're geared to people who don't like the taste of fish as much (it's a local gem) but the sushi and sashimi are worth the trip out of the city. Note that they do not take online reservations.

About 15 miles north of Richmond in the charming railroad town of Ashland, you’ll find one of the better Japanese restaurants in the Richmond area (in a strip mall near I-95.) Proprietor and chef Mr. Choi is Korean but is pretty skilled at Japanese sushi. They also offer some interesting westernized foods. The service is great, and if you’re lucky, Mr. Choi will play the piano for you.

Probably the best sushi in richmond right here. Not just sushi though, the beef teriyaki was so flavorful! From the appetizers(heart attack was my fav) to the entrees and the same, everything was amazing. Not a single complaint, all 6 of us enjoyed everything. Will absolutely be returning.
