Fantastic ciders, great beers, friendly service . We enjoyed our stop here especially the Butter bier and Midnight Tango cider.
Good food and cider. Ciders are not over my sweet, but full of flavor. From od came out fast, was cheap and tasty!
Outside meeting was great, even on a chilly day, the sun was shining looking over the fields with views of mountains.
Staff was excellent.
We stopped by purely by chance and tried a few of the beers. The more we stayed, the more we liked. For a little farmhouse operation, this place really impressed. Inside the taproom, there's a relaxed vibe. We could have been content enjoying the beers there. A couple of families were taking advantage of a feature that I have never seen at other breweries. There was an indoor playroom for pre-school age kids. The parents were at the tables right outside the playroom as their kids played inside. We walked out to the back of the brewery and there was a festive atmosphere out there with an outside bar and stage with live music. This was a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon. The outside area also had play areas for the kids with a bounce house, climbing gym equipment and slides. There were many kids enjoying themselves as much as the adults were drinking beer. We only stopped here on a whim after seeing a little sign on the road to Charlottesville that said Brewery 1.2 Miles >. We were so glad we stopped here. It was fun.
The atmosphere outside is very nice, especially because they are dog friendly, but they are not very knowledgeable about allergens or willing to discuss many things with customers. My husband and I asked about the different ciders and were old to “just pick some” for a flight and then when ordering food asked about gluten friendly options and were told they had them and then were still served entrees that included gluten. Overall, we have had better experiences here in the past (a few years ago) but this was not a great one.
This used to be our go to spot to have a couple drinks and food. Something has definitely changed with the food quality. Last two times it has been disappointing to say the least. We had shrimp tacos the last time, they were the smallest taco portions I've ever seen and no avocado as stated on the menu. Spoke with the staff and there response was "we are trying to save enough for everyone". If you don't have enough just say you're sold out as the cost to what was received was truly disappointing. Initially we were told the wait time for food would be 30 minutes and it ended up being 1.5 hours. I don't believe we will be back after this last experience.
Very dog friendly, offering frozen dog treat and water bowl. They also have a dog park out back. Great beers and selection of local wines.
We got off the Amtrak auto train in Lorton and started southwest toward the mountains. Our route took us down a 4 line divided highway, which when riding a motorcycle is quite boring for me.It was just before 11:00am when I saw a road sign for a brewery. Say no more, I took a right and followed a narrow country road that led to a long gravel driveway heading up to a home on a hill.
What a fantastic location! There we were sitting in the middle of a soy bean field on hill with great views of the mountains.
Nice people, great beer and food! Old Trade was a welcoming 1st stop!
Love this place
Alright, I am not a huge fancy beer or cider drinker. However, my opinion may be skewed based on the crowded breweries I have been to in the past. Here the service was great! The food and beverages were delicious. If you have them, there is a nice place to let your kids play as you sit and enjoy time with your friends and family. It sits kind of on top of a mountain, so the view to just sit out side and enjoy a sunset is perfect. My wife and I went as a thunderstorms were blowing in, so we enjoyed both outside and inside areas before we called it a night. Prices may be a little high, but I will call it a wash for the location and quality.
Didn't have any drinks, so this rating is really just the food and restaurant area. I cannot speak to their brews, but their hamburgers are really bad. The meat is low quality like you would expect in a prison or school. The fries were sufficiently acceptable and seemed delicious compared to the miserable burgers. No one in my group could finish eating the hamburger even though they are definitely on the small side. I've heard others say other food was good, but stay away from burgers until they figure out how to buy real hamburger meat. Another great annoyance was the presence of numerous flies inside the restaurant with no apparent attempt to eradicate them. While we suffered through our burgers, we were continuously harassed by lots of flies. Very annoying. If this were outside, no big deal. The place has potential for a nice time to drink local brews. There are some things for kids to do. Overall, I'd like to be more generous, but the hamburgers just kind of soured the whole experience.

Nice area to relax
We loved this place!! It's super family friendly...kids and dogs are welcome. Our son had a ball in the indoor play corner as well as the outdoor playset and moon bounce. The cider was tasty and the staff was super friendly. They also have axe throwing , which we will try next time. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is for lack of vegetarian options. I could only really eat a pretzel and fries from the menu. The entrees consisted of all meat items. I wish there was a veggie burger, or some type of non meat option. Besides that everything was Great!
We rented the A frame space for a family event-Jessica was really helpful over email to answer all of our questions and was flexible and accommodating for us. The day of (early May) was pouring rain-the space was really wet and not really usable for our event, so the owner accommodated us inside. It was a better alternative to what would have been a disappointing afternoon. The beer/wine is really good and an overall enjoyable place.
Lovely place. Good cider and beer, friendly staff and a very nice atmosphere. Lots of outdoor seating, it was a little on the cold side for it today ( in the high 50's) and cloudy, but I bet it's great when it's warmer.
Nice view and people
