Quality friendly service every time we eat here. The staff is friendly and efficient. The food is great. They try to not have a long wait time and are very efficient at keeping up with that.

Overall, still a great place, but with the prices going up AGAIN (another 10 to 30% over what they raised them last year), I don't know if we can justify going there any more. Maybe time to seek out and try all the other Mexican places in the 'burg.
Also, I have been a customer with El Charro for 30+ years. I have eaten at 6 of their restaurants (All 4 in Harrisonburg, Fredericksburg, and the closed Dale City location), and I have never once been charged for a second bowl of chips (first refill) until this week. Yes it was only $1.50, but after 30 years of a free refill, to be tagged for a cost... Not cool!

I’ve been coming to El Charro for over 8 years, introducing countless friends and family and always ordering the same meal. It’s been my go-to spot… until now.
Recently, they changed the menu and prices. My meal went up significantly, and now they charge $3 per burrito to have cheese dip instead of salsa. This is not listed on the menu, and my server never told me this would be an extra $6 total. In the past, this substitution was $2.75 for both burritos, and on two separate occasions after the menu change, managers told me the $6 charge wasn’t correct, that they were still figuring out the new menu, and they refunded me.
Today, when I brought it up again, the manager came out and was immediately rude and dismissive. She told me, “that’s just how it is,” and that if I wasn’t willing to pay, I needed to “think about my order.” The way she said it made me feel like she was calling me broke — which was insulting and completely uncalled for. She didn’t listen to a single point I made, including the fact that the $5 cheese dip appetizer has far more queso than what’s put on the burritos. It’s absurd that in the future I could just order the cheese dip appetizer and get more for less money.
This used to be one of my favorite restaurants, but after this interaction, I left feeling disrespected and unwelcome.

I loved El charro and would order fairly frequently, but they recently changed how they make their food. No free chips and salsa with to go orders anymore. I'm really disappointed
Wonderful meal....get the FRIED ICE CREAM....delicious 😋
There were guests at only 3 tables when I walked in. I waited 20 minutes and no one even took my drink order. I walked out, between. 4 young servers playing on their phones. Needless to say, I have crossed this place off my list!
Awesome food..
