NET/NET visit this destination vineyard! If you are traveling along I81 and want to have something unique, this is your place. The wines from the vineyard are very tasty not to mention award-winning, albeit with a high price point. I had the veggie gnocchi, which had a nice taste, but truthfully, tasted like my plate had been sitting under heat-lamp, waiting to have a 'protein' added. The crowd is mixed, with some in golf shorts after a round of golf, others dressed up for the event (disappearing art-form these days) I was there at night and could not understand why the place was SO BRIGHT. Hickory felt like the breakfast room at a FOUR SEASONS, not a night time place to dine. Don't get me wrong, nothing wrong with FOUR SEASONS, just the place didn't have a fine restaurant feel, more like a bistro. I look forward to going back!
The breakfast was AMAZING, the southern style biscuits and gravy with homemade biscuits made my day!!! Such a wonderful breakfast and loved the ambiance
One of my best dining experiences, ever! The setting is beautiful and the service was immaculate. The food was so delicious. Best steak I've ever eaten. Definitely a good splurge experience or special occasion. Will 100% be back when visiting the area again!
Both of our dishes were good, nothing remarkable, but good. Prices are fairly high and the food and wine selections are very limited. My gin and tonic was excellent, but again the wine selection, by the glass, was very limited especially considering that this is a vineyard! On the other hand, in Kingsport and within a 50 mile radius, there are no other "fine dining" establishments.
We've dined at Hickory several times with family, friends and customers. Always a great experience.
We thoroughly enjoyed our experience at Hickory. The service was top-notch. The restaurant is beautiful - an understated elegance, which made it comfortable with an upscale casual vibe. My husband had the pork chop and I had the chicken. Both excellent. We had a drink at the bar beforehand. Also excellent. Highly recommend.
Wow - what a hidden gem in the Virginia Highlands! This is an absolutely gorgeous property. Everything was beautifully decorated, spotlessly clean, sophisticated, modern yet homey. My friend and I stayed there for three days. We stayed in a luxury double yurt, which was FABULOUS! We each had a spacious very nicely appointed bedroom, there was a comfy living room with a kitchenette and an awesome Nespresso machine that we truly enjoyed each morning. The bathroom was large with a double vanity and a luxurious rain shower, and we had a large front porch overlooking a firepit (which they lit each evening on request), plus a very private back porch. The infinity pool and hot tub overlook the stunning and perfectly maintained vineyards. The spa is absolutely world class. Try the gemstone body treatment - WOW. The food in the onsite restaurant was five stars all the way, and we ate there 5 times during our stay. Everything we ordered was perfect. We also visited the tasting room - and enjoyed delicious wine and appetizers there. We felt like we were in Sonoma, CA! There was plenty of seating here and lots of outdoor yard games. Every staff member we encountered was cheerful, professional and clearly enjoy their jobs. Our only disappointment during our stay was that the pool bar was not staffed on any of the days we were there. We were there mid-week so maybe that was why that happened. The weather was very hot and it would have been nice to have a jug of ice water available since we couldn’t order drinks. They do have live entertainment on the weekends so we will have to go back to enjoy that another time. We will definitely return - it is an absolutely wonderful little resort!
The Most Relaxing Weekend at Nicewonder Farm & Vineyards!
We just got back from the most peaceful, beautiful two-night stay at Nicewonder Farm & Vineyards, and I honestly can’t recommend it enough. It was exactly what we needed, restful, scenic, and full of little moments that made it feel really special. The staff were incredible thoughtful. Especially the customer service manager! Every detail was considered. We had dinner at Hickory and it was delicious. We also did a massage at the Spa and it was just as lovely as the hotel. This place is such a hidden gem. We are already planning our trip back next summer.
One of the best in the Appalachians!
5 Stars all around. Good, service, location, golf, pool. I can’t believe this gem exists in Bristol, VA. We can’t wait to return. Every single moment and detail was perfect for a couples getaway at this small, family owned property!

I would like to commend our server, Rain. He was amazing and always with a kind smile. He waited on our table of eighteen last night and everything was perfect. Thank you, Rain. Nicewonder is lucky to have you.
We had an absolutely lovely stay. The staff were extremely attentive and friendly. This was a first-class accommodation. The lodge was set among the vineyard and the farm. It was a quiet and peaceful setting. I hope our next visit we can stay in a yurt.
We had dinner at the Hickory, the lodge’s restaurant was excellent. The dishes were delicious!! The restaurant staff were as friendly and attentive as the hotel staff.
Great Sunday brunch
Fantastic place to stay. The food is amazing. Very beautiful little spot.
Outrageously rude staff.
