Recently found Chicken Scratch bakery for my wife’s birthday cake, and it was the best chocolate cake any of us had ever had! We also bought her cinnamon rolls and raspberry streusel coffee cake and they were out of this world too. Can’t say enough nice things about Chicken Scratch Bakery, incredibly good!!

I ordered a red velvet cake & 2 dozen cookies to share with my family for my birthday. I’m a travel nurse in the area for an assignment & my daughters live in the area. The cookies were ok…not great. The snickerdoodles tasted like the batter wasn’t mixed completely. The chocolate chip & the red velvet cookies were ok. The red velvet cake was extremely dry. Like it was baked several days ahead of time then frosted. Everyone that had a slice of it, said the same thing. I even took it to work & my coworkers said the same thing. I was very disappointed because red velvet is my favorite & I was really looking forward to having a good “home baked” cake.

Discovered a wonderful Bakery in Broadway!We needed some sweet treats to help celebrate a special birthday and Nicole really delivered! Everything was amazingly delicious and fresh. She baked everything to order on the day of. She even added walnuts and raisins to the order. Literally the best carrot cake I have ever had!

I recently bought a German chocolate cake from Nicki. She was responsive with the order and pick up was very easy (my husband and I loved her very friendly dogs!). The cake was to die for and was enjoyed by everyone. We will absolutely be ordering from Nicki again! Highly recommend her to anyone in Rockingham Co.

We ordered 180 cookies from Chicken Scratch for a cookie bar at our wedding. Everything pictured here (except for the cake pops) is from Chicken Scratch. The cookies were SO AMAZING! We are still getting compliments on how good they all were, especially the Oatmeal Cream Pies! We only had around 100 people at our wedding, but we had no cookies left over! We also ordered a pineapple upside down cake and carrot cake for our rehearsal dinner. So delicious! EVERYONE said it was the best carrot cake they’ve ever had! My husband talks about it daily! It was such a great experience working with Nicki. We are so happy with how it all turned out and will definitely order from here again!

Master Baker Nicki has done it again... we requested a raisin cinnamon bread and a pumpkin roll. Both were, key word were, awesome. We ate both too fast, now we need to take a break and get back to eating sensibly.
