The staff was nice but unfortunately food I had was not good except for the orzo pasta salad was decent. My chicken salad sandwich was soggy and tasted mostly like relish. Got a chicken and bacon quesadilla for my son but the meat was so hard that him not myself could chew it. Unfortunate because the people we're nice but won't be back for food. But if your looking for a store to walk around aimlessly this is it. As well as there was a very very small selection from what I saw of bakery items.
We ordered the fruit pizza, vegetable pizza and buffalo chicken dip for our Memorial Day celebration. Food was delicious and price was reasonable!
The taco salad and the Reubens are so good.
A good place to eat and have a good time with my friends. The service is good and the people are lovely and helpful. Thanks for your advices. Have a nice time.
loved the lunch special taco salad and the strawberry lemonade was wonderful
The night we went we had planned to eat in the restaurant but only other customer was just finishing up and the atmosphere was no existent. We took our food to go. The food was average but was disappointed not have an eat in option.
Delicious and well worth a drive. I love driving from Woodstock down Route 42 through the country!
We had a Rueben made to take on our trail hike. At the top of our summit it was absolutely wonderful.
Great menu selections. Freshly made food. Haven’t been disappointed with anything I have eaten at the Cafe. Everything has been delicious.
We visit the Country Cafe in Little Washington from time to time with our friend who lives there. I just heard that the owner is considering closing this wonderful restaurant and we are SO upset!! Betty always greets us so cheerfully and the cook makes my favorite BLT whenever we are there. My husband, Mack, always enjoys the special of the day and our friend has a sandwich she loves, too. The prices are VERY reasonable and the food is great! WHY close this restaurant that has been a tradition in Little Washington for as long as we can remember (30 years) of eating there. It's nice - in such a expensive town (cozy and lovely, but expensive!) to be able to go out to a good lunch and pay reasonable prices. And Betty is such an asset - she greets us and serves us and is always warm and welcoming - don't often find that in today's rush-rush world!! PLEASE DON'T CLOSE THE COUNTRY CAFE!!! Thank you - Annie and Mack Rowe, Madison, Va.

When TripAdvisor says this restaurant is ranked #4 of 4 restaurants in Little Washington, don't be fooled into thinking it is even in the same league as the other places. It's a filthy little dive that serves up inedible food by unfriendly people. The sign says the cafe has been open for 29 years, and, no doubt, that's the last time the floor was cleaned. The wall-to-wall carpet is literally sticky to walk on, with large, black patches of goo, rotting nylon, and dirt looking like continents on a world map. Diners are greeted by three scowling old women. I sat in the cook's line of sight, who glared and frowned at me every time our eyes met. To complement the squalid setting, the food is just awful. We had two cups of the soup of the day -- chicken and dumplings. It was as thick as Elmer's glue and about as tasty, with large globs of nearly raw dough posing as dumplings. My wife's pulled pork sandwich was poor, as was my BLT. The bacon was so salty my teeth practically hurt. You have to wonder why these miserable people keep this place open?
When we lived in Falls Church, VA our favorite hiking territory was east side of Shenandoah National Park, driving thru Faquier County and then south on Highway 131 to access various trailheads. We often grabbed a delicious burger at Country Cafe in Washington, just a couple miles of the road. In recent week revisit loop hike in Shenandoah we passed by Washington on both ends of the trip--and had breakfast and lunch at Country Cafe. As usual, did not disappoint! A tender steak, eggs over easy, home fries toast & coffee for under $8. On return trip, hungry after 6.5 days on the trail we feasted on burgers, salad & green beans seasoned just right. We forewent the berry cobbler--which from past experience is delicious--only because we were already full.
We recently visited The Country Cafe in Washington, Va., with a friend, who suggested we go there for lunch. We had a wonderful time - and the atmosphere is so comforting! Betty took wonderful care of us and brought us delicious hot food that we enjoyed very much. Our friend had a Reuben sandwich, I had a BLT and my husband had the special - a steak sandwich. Everything was very, very tasty, and the prices are reasonable.. After lunch, Betty offered something we all enjoyed - a warm blueberry cobbler, topped with yummy vanilla ice cream - a treat we will not soon forget - SO delicious! The Country Cafe is a relaxing, down-home place to eat that's been there for many years. And we felt like Betty was taking care of us in her own kitchen. We plan to return again soon for more of that great comfort food - and know we will be greeted by Betty's warm smile! Annie and Mack Rowe, Madison, Va.
The Country Cafe appears to be a fairly typical "nice place to eat" kind of establishment, and it truly is that, and more. During my stay I had several meals there, and each one was particularly excellent; well above what you would expect.
Great food and great service
