I LOVE this establishment!!! I’ve been in a few times in person but they don’t have dine in option. Maybe … soon 😊 The staff is always super friendly! I can’t speak enough on how much I appreciate the effort to protect the to go orders. Thank you for providing extraordinary service. The food tastes amazing and the additional courtesy with online orders is outstanding!

Today was my first time coming here. It's black owned. Everything is made in house. I will never eat a burger anywhere else. They have so many desserts. I settled on the bread pudding and I was not disappointed. Absolutely phenomenal. The customer service was extraordinary. My new go to.

I happened upon Mr. B's, a soul food spot nestled in Chester after attending an art show at the nearby arts center. It was easy to find parking right outside the entrance. Although it looked like it is designed for dine-in, it is takeout only. They have ample spaces for you to wait for your order and it stayed busy with lots of walk-ins and pre-orders. The staff was very friendly and there were many items to choose from so I took suggestions and ordered the catfish and the fried chicken. Each entree came with two sides and I ordered the string beans, mac and cheese, collard greens and the yams. I also fell for the dessert display and ordered a slice of plain pound cake.

What I liked was that the catfish was fried like I prefer--fried not too hard and not too soft. It was not too salty and golden, with a great texture to the catfish. Next time I'll be sure to order an extra piece. I did not like the mac and cheese as I prefer a more custard-like finish, but don't let that discourage you from ordering. I did find the string beans to be slightly oversalted but they were not overcooked.

The fried chicken white I had for dinner and it was fantastic. I enjoyed both the collard greens and the yams and will definitely order those again.

The pound cake tasted just like my Grandma used to make it, same weight, same sweetness and a perfect crusting. It would go great á la mode as well.

The packaging was very high-quality for takeout, there were no juice spills and it traveled well.

I will definitely return when I am in the area!

My first experience here. Here’s what I got:
Meatloaf - tough & dry even with the little gravy
Mashed potatoes - instant
String beans - good well seasoned
Cabbage - overcooked funny taste
Yams - mildly sweet heavy cinnamon
Mac n cheese - very good
Roll - sister Schubert yeast roll… I actually expected a soft roll with my meatloaf and that was a mini hockey puck

Sweet potato pie - no flavor taste like lard, cinnamon and white sugar.

After reading the reviews I couldn’t wait to try this place. The prices weren’t bad, but maybe they aren’t used to making mass portions taste good.

I tried the
greens 3stars
Green beans 0 stars no seasoning
Yams 3 stars very oily
Chicken wings 4stars not crispy enough
Mac and cheese 0 stars very nasty
The cobbler 0 stars super dry and tasted very cold and old
it was honesty a toss up i was expecting some real authentic but instead the greens were not picked they taste like the ones in a bag the only perk was the smoked turkey that was used in them
Order was not ready when arrived

I grew up in central Florida in the home of a mother who can cook from scratch. I tried Mr. B's on a whim as I was looking for some soul food and didn't feel like cooking. I ordered smothered pork chop ( you only receive one) yams and the Mac and cheese. I can honesty say the meal was unremarkable. Thus far I have experienced Mr. B's and Family Secret and Family Secret tops my list.

I ordered a large liver and onions with collards and Mac and cheese. An extra side of mashed potatoes and gravy and yams and sweet potato pie. I paid $30 for this. The food was seasoned really well and nice size portions but nothing was homemade. Box mashed potatoes, Stouffer's Mac and cheese, canned greens and a sliver of sweet potato pie that I paid $6 for. When ordering online, the picture was a whole mini sweet potato pie or tart. I feel ripped off a little. Also I asked for gravy on my side of mashed potatoes and I received plain mashed potatoes

The people were warm, friendly and accommodating. The location is apparently for catering, delivery, and Take-out. The server mentioned they have another location (maybe two more) and I'm guessing may be for dine-in. The catering menu had great prices, in my opinion.

The food was hot, flavorful, and great portion sizes. I got the Turkey and Dressing with Carrot Souffle and Collard Greens. The carrot souffle was a bit too sweet, but otherwise well made. The bathroom was clean. I'll definitely be ordering again.
