Nice family restaurant. Average food but great service. They were out of several popular sides, which was disappointing.

We were worried, it was 4:30 and the place was empty. It's Wednesday and the special is either a chicken breast or 2 pieces of dark meat and 1 side for 9.99. We decided to get the special. I got the dark meat with mac and cheese and my husband got the dark meat with fries. The chicken was delicious. It was really juicy and very crispy. The only thing I could have a negative to sat was the crust could use a little bit of salt. I'm really particular about mac and cheese, and let's put it this way, I ate it all!! It was delicious. Everything was good enough that my husband ordered an order of chicken livers to take home. You have to try this restaurant!!

Biscuits are hard as a rock, even with gravy on it. Not a lot to choose from and overpriced.

I didn’t even have a chance to eat the food and it doesn’t even matter we came in at 8 PM. They have hours listed that they are open until nine. The waitress said we start cleaning at 8:30. We said we can leave. She said no we’ll go ahead and take your order and then when the food was close to be getting done, she asked if we wanted to go and so we just decided to have it to go.
I can’t believe how pushed out the restaurant we were there was nobody else even eating there so it’s not like they had to clean up after a huge crowd. we ended up not getting our food at all because the people who were working at the restaurant kept saying that the cook didn’t wash his hands and they were all laughing so we decided we did not want the food. Sounds like no one there would wash their hands since it was his big joke. there’s no way I would go back to try their food after they make jokes about their employees, not washing their hands. They cook. The good part was we did not have to pay for the food. We just paid for the beer.

Great service from Gabby. The fried/pressure cooked chicken was delicious. All the sides were delicious too! Highly recommend for lunch. Will definitely go back for dinner.

The best dish here is the green beans. I really wish I had gotten more of the green beans. The chicken tasted like it was dipped in flour only then fried, no spices or anything. A member of our group was served a raw chicken thigh. So raw, it was bleeding. The owner offered them another side or another piece of chicken. Who would want to eat anything else after biting into a piece of raw chicken?!? He didn't offer them a discount for the food that they couldn't eat because the idea of getting sick wasn't at the top of their to do list for the day. He said that they were in the fryer for the same amount of time as the other pieces of chicken at the table. If that were true, then it would have been severely overcooked because two people at the table had chicken breasts. I will never go back for their bland, raw food.

Great food and excellent service! Cathy took great care of us and gave excellent recommendations. Kids loved the buffet (fried fish and shrimp were their favorite!) and the banana pudding. Highly recommend if you’re looking for good home cooking!

Went here for breakfast when we walked in we felt like we had just stepped in a diner from wrong turn.. everyone stared at you. We were unclear if we were to see yourself or not, and we saw that it was a “supposed” buffet, but it looked worse than if you were eating a Continental breakfast at a hotel.. I have actually had better breakfast at hotels. very small selection, gravy was cold. My coffee was brought to me in a dirty glass, which I didn’t realize till I had drink it down to see the ring of dirt. The waitress stared at us the entire time we eat.. The coffee cup was tiny and it was 3bucks for one cup of coffee, terribly overpriced for the little bit they had .. for 2 people it was $38.. not good food . Do not recommend ,will never go there again !!!!!

I was so excited to try the buffet. I took Dad for Father’s Day. Food was under seasoned and bland. Bread tasted frozen like you can buy at the store. Green beans and corn tasted like canned. Mac and cheese was soggy. Cole slaw was best thing about the meal. I’m sorry Blue Hen. I rarely give bad reviews but you all need to step it up.

Fresh, hot food. However, the Wednesday fried chicken breast (w/one side) and seafood platter of one fish fillet and 6 shrimp were not worth a $45 bill with a tip! No wonder the place was empty.

I predict it will be shuttered within 6 months.

6/28/24 After the biz response...yes, my math is fine. Add $3 per drink (I heard the waitress open a can of Coke for mine; $7.48 per 12-pack at Walmart...the math makes that $.62 a piece) and a 15% tip, my total is accurate. I stand by my prediction.

We visited The Blue Hen for dinner last night and it was a horrible experience. The waitress was very nice but we were served bloody, raw chicken. The waitress removed the bloody, raw chicken until the owner/cook could arrive. The attitude of this man is what made the experience the worse. When we advised him of the chicken, he wanted to make some more or some shrimp. We did not want anything else after seeing that. He was very defensive in stating he air fried the chicken for 12 minutes and offered 10% off. We were not looking for anything for free but wanted to warn him for the next customers!! He agreed to take the raw chicken off the bill but then was upset with the waitress like it was her/our fault!! We will not be back and if he is the owner, the place will not last long for the way he treats customers and staff!! I never leave customer reviews but feel this is the only way to warn others about the uncooked chicken. He was not trying to hear that anything was wrong with the chicken. It could and will make people sick!!!!
Thank you for the comment! This was more for future customers. Customer beware!! The waitress took the other 9 pieces of chicken to the back to show him as I previously stated! I did not want anything other than to correct the issue for the next person!! The temp was not checked!! it would not have made the entire napkin underneath all bloody!! Please just check your cooking process before someone ends up sick!!
